Any idea how much this costs? This is definitely on our to do list, I love animals, and cats especially so holding a tiger cub will be mindblowing.

This may sound like a daft question, but are the tigers and all other animals in Vegas really well treated and looked after?

It was $25 when we had it done a few years ago...I don't think you will get to hold it - if they are small enough they will put it on your lap though. When we had it done the cubs were older so she was sat on a table and we could put our hand on her but that was it. It still made me cry.

The lions at the MGM are really well looked after - they spend most of their time on a ranch not far away. They have limits to the amount of time any of the older animals spend in the enclosure each week (I think it's 4 hours a week, maybe?)

I used to think it was kind of cruel, but now I do think that they're taken care of quite well.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Oh dear - Im fearing this flight from Vegas to LGW. At least I only have one way on it I guess :rotfl:

Im going to ring and ask about extra leg room etc, from looking online they all seem to be taken, ill keep looking though :)

Any other tips for making it bearable?

Also - quick Flamingo hotel question - do the Go Deluxe rooms have fridges in them? I cant see that they have from their website - just wondered if anyone here has stayed in them. Not sure whether to upgrade or not, but i love having a fridge for cold diet coke/water

Seats are just bearable if you take a cushion as I do.

Go rooms dont have a fridge, there are very few hotels in Vegas with a fridge that is usable as oppossed to a mini bar. BUT most hotels do have fridges that can be hired/rented, Not sure about Flamingo but my guess is they do

We always take a cool bag that will hold about 4-6 cans or bottles, fill it with ice in the morning before we head out, zip it up and it works well enough. Like photome says most places you can rent a fridge for between $10 and $20/night - some have had luck asking housekeeping (with a tip) to get one at no charge (other than the tip)...we've never tried it ourselves.

we just use the ice bucket and the ice machines to keep beers cold . if you have a few try loading the sink with ice .

also you will find vending machines near your room ( as well as the ice machines) ,almost certainly several on the floor your staying on at regular intervals . not stayed at the Flamingo so cannot say for sure , but others will advise .

generally i have found the vending machine prices pretty reasonable , certainly reasonable enough to not justify the outlay of $10 a night for a fridge .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

agree that the vending machine prices aren't too bad - certainly a lot cheaper than the little shop in the hotel/casino - but with a car, waaaay cheaper to hit a local supermarket of course. Plus the brand loyalty thing - Harrah's properties carry Pepsi products exclusively...so we Diet Coke folks are a bit screwed - so it's the supermarket for us! :)

  • Thanks everyone - so pillow for the flight it is then!

I'd go up to $10 a night for a fridge, anymore would be too much, ill drop them an email just now. Sounds worth trying with housekeeping too, so ill see what the hotel says then make a call based on that

As well as the Smarter Vegas deal nvh mentioned, there are also a couple of offers here if you do decide to book in advance:

    http://www.blueman.com/offers/vegasoffers

We got a great deal on the Blue Man Group show in Orlando a couple of years ago from Travelzoo - there's nothing on there for Vegas at the moment but might be worth checking back on there as well.

    Oh Lexis!

So sorry to hear your news :(

    Whats your plan B then?

So, 8 weeks takes you up to early May time - will you wait till then?

On a positive note it will give you even more time to plan and enjoy the anticipation!

OR - will you change your decision and get married here with your Dad in plaster?

    Steff

    Hi Steff

No, can't change the dates as mum and dad have stuff that has been planned for nearly a year and I wouldn't ask them to change it, plus OH won't be able to get the time off work later:(

What's really hacking me off is that this is the 4th time we've arranged it now. OH proposed about 8 years ago, we arranged it and I got ill so we had to cancel, that happened another couple of times but I've been well (touch wood!!!) for a couple of years now so we thought we'd be safe. It never even occurred to me that my dad'd be the sicky:)

Of course I did have a bit of a pity party yesterday with me and a load of cakes and biscuits that I'd made, so maybe a longer lead time would be useful now as otherwise I'll need to have my dress let out:)

On the bright side we still have a lovely couple of weeks in Orlando, and we're saving a few thousand for the time being by not adding Vegas on.

I'll be watching everyone's progress on here though for if/when we do decide to try it again, so make sure you keep the updates coming so I can live vicariously! We'd settled on the Wynn package you have gone for so I'd love to hear how it was:)
