NYE in Vegas?
anyone done NYE in Vegas, is it fun or full of nutters? Planning Xmas with in-laws in Denver, and thinking of a break from it all in Vegas for NYE.0 -
JuneAnother hotel question!
I have found a very good deal at the MGM Grand through cityandshow.com, which is quite a bit less than anywhere else i can find.
Has anyone else used cityandshow before for a hotel booking? Are they reliable?
Thanks0 -
SeptemberI'm not saying it happens on every flight-I'm saying it happened on ONE of mine (and as I fly at least 3 times a year there- arguably the odds of it happening to me were greater than the once a year traveller) and that one experience was enough to make me ensure it was never going to happen to me again if I could help it. The FAs had no control and if there had been an emergency these twits would have posed a huge hazard to the other passengers .
we had 3 stag groups on our last Vegas flight....they were spread out and the closest group to us were about 4 rows in front....they were all a bit worse for wear....I find if you befriend them rather than just sit there tutting you will all get alone just fine.....we were talking to a couple of the lads in the group nearest us asking where they were staying, what they had planned etc....and they were lovely lads.....when the rest of their group got a bit rowdy the 2 lads told them to tone it down a bit for us as we couldn't concentrate on the film because we could still hear them even with headphones on.........just make friends with them and you'll find they are not a problem:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0 -

You can also fly Flybe to Gatwick and then go with Virgin direct..... we've also went indirect from Glasgow before with American Airlines and United (AA no longer on the route last time I checked). We have family in Glasgow though, so it made it easier to add a couple of days either side of the trip.......
Is that from Newcastle? Going to check out the flight durations, always seems like a good plan to go with one or two stops but a killer on the way back!0 -

I've worked in the licenced trade I'm more than aware how to handle drunks thanks !
You feel free to "make friends" with middle class morons- who think it's acceptable to feel up the flight attendents and call them C's right in front of kids too- if you like. I'm a little pickier !!
That's how bad it was-and my comment about "like Wetherspoons on a Saturday night" isn't how I *imagine* one to be-I've actually worked in one of the larger ones so I'm pretty unshockable. This wasn't lighthearted drunkeness-this was simply foul.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

MarchLooking for a good pool, and keep seeing people recommend the Flamingo. If we were to book a Go room, is the hotel alright? Dont want to book somewhere with a good pool but its actually a shoddy hotel. Go rooms look alright on the website!
Cheers.
No it's not shoddy -it is right in the heart of the action so it's always busy and buzzing though. Not for those looking for elegence but not downmarket either,
The "deluxe" rooms are a bit tired but the Go rooms are nice. We've stayed there three times this year (we often stay at more than one hotel per trip) and we liked them. Spacious-light airy and I like the seperate bath and shower (and the TV built into the bathroom mirror). Out of those three stays we've been upgraded twice from Go room to Go room with view -which were fantastic views of the Bellagio fountains. This was a straight unasked for upgrade both times -not using the $20 trick. I'm not over-keen on the buffet at the Flamingo although it's a nice setting overlooking the Flamingos outside. I usually stroll down to Planet Hollywood if I want a close by buffet as that's one of our favourites.
If you prepay your hotel the Harrah's group don't take the usual $100/$200 per night security deposit off your card which is nice if you don't want to charge back to the room. In room net access can be paid for by card so for me who likes not having a hold that can take a week or two to drop off a card that works nicely. I'm never in the room long enough to need room service though !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks.0 -

Thanks.
Done it last year, flew to LAX stayed there a couple of days then drove from LAX to Vegas when our friends arrived into LAX.
Hired a care (chrysler 300) from Dollar thru carhire3000. Cost about £30 and that included gas and all the insurance malarky. I had my own sat nav, which was a life saver as Id have no idea how to get outta LA! We left about 5pm on a Sunday night and took a leisurly drive up i15 to Vegas. asrriving on the strip about 22.00. We stopped off a couple of times for a short rest. There were no drop off fees and I returned the car to mandalay bay care hire dept the next day.
On our return 2 weeks later I had a dodge charger i think, again same deal £30ish, gas, insurance and no drop off fees on our return to LAX. Drive back took me about 4 hours and I done it non stop.0 -
January , FebruaryThanks for the comments about mandalay bay, it's great to hear that people have enjoyed it there! We're there for my boyfriend's 30th so i was really worried that the hotel wasn't gonna be good. We've paid about £70 a night which I'm pretty happy with based on those reviews.
Like I said, we're off in a few weeks so I'll be lurking around here alot until then. Based on the last few comments, I'm extremely glad I'm not flying with virgin. We're flying from Gatwick via Atlanta with Delta, has anyone done that route? is it okay?0
