MarchIs anyone off to Vegas in the next couple of weeks? We're going on 24th - just hope the weather here improves!
laragh we are flying from Newcastle, down to Heathrow and then onwards direct via BA. Sometimes the routes from Newcastle are so long, via Amsterdam or Paris etc. I'm quite looking forward to the novelty of a direct flight from the UK, it's been a few years and the last time was BMI from Manchester. Only thing that worries me is the last time I travelled BA they lost our luggage
United teporarily lost one of ours on the way home (thankfully) on our last trip. I wouldn't have minded the delay, but it has most of my Raspberry M&M's :rotfl:Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
January , FebruaryCan anyone tell me the best way of getting a copy of the ACG? I head to Vegas in a month.OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090

January , FebruaryIt's fine- I use that route a lot Atlanta's a huge but easy airport and I like the Delta southern style of service too. The FA's also make a good mojhito cocktail-it's a Delts signeture drink
That's it, I'm sold!! Mojhitos at 9am may be a bit much but I might make an exception for the journey to vegas!0 -

RE Mandalay Bay - stayed there last June at thehotel, was in a 750 sq ft corner suite (29th floor i think it was) Loved the place, it was quality. The walk into the lobby from the casino was a propa 'wow' moment (this was our first time in Vegas) and the room was superb. We got it for roughly $100 a night. Ive got a few pics online of it:
I've only just been able to look at the photos , it wouldn't let me at work, but they look pretty amazing! I'm getting so excited now!0 -
JuneNo it's not shoddy -it is right in the heart of the action so it's always busy and buzzing though. Not for those looking for elegence but not downmarket either,
The "deluxe" rooms are a bit tired but the Go rooms are nice. We've stayed there three times this year (we often stay at more than one hotel per trip) and we liked them. Spacious-light airy and I like the seperate bath and shower (and the TV built into the bathroom mirror). Out of those three stays we've been upgraded twice from Go room to Go room with view -which were fantastic views of the Bellagio fountains. This was a straight unasked for upgrade both times -not using the $20 trick. I'm not over-keen on the buffet at the Flamingo although it's a nice setting overlooking the Flamingos outside. I usually stroll down to Planet Hollywood if I want a close by buffet as that's one of our favourites.
If you prepay your hotel the Harrah's group don't take the usual $100/$200 per night security deposit off your card which is nice if you don't want to charge back to the room. In room net access can be paid for by card so for me who likes not having a hold that can take a week or two to drop off a card that works nicely. I'm never in the room long enough to need room service though !
Excellent, thanks for your help!
This is the first ive heard of a security deposit though. What is it? $100 a night sounds alot. So if i paid in advance through Expedia for example, i wouldnt have to worry about any extra fees?0 -

You can also normally opt to leave a deposit in cash at check-in if you don't want the hold on your card - if it's a credit card, unless the hold will cause you to hit your limit and keep you from using your card for other things - it's not really an issue...if you put a debit card against the room then it might be more of a concern. Most hotels will put a hold of a certain amount per night against the room. In some cases you can decline to have access to charging to your room, using the phone in the room, etc and they will waive the deposit - really depends on the hotel.
Just had a look and Flamingo's T&Cs says:
A deposit is not required unless you would like incidental charging privileges. For incidental charging to the room, a $100 per day credit card or cash deposit will be taken in addition to your entire room and tax. Alternatively, a one time $100 flat fee of cash or credit card may be given, however, this would only allow phone and movie privileges.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
January , FebruaryFive hours including lunch to LAX.
Directions.....Turn right at Caesars, turn left onto I15, drive for three hundred miles, arrive LAX.
About a tank of petrol......£25 or so.
Its a real tumbleweed kinda journey.
If you have time, stop off at Primm for the Outlet Mall.....only one with the Hollister Outlet.
Great thanks
I'm going to Vegas in February, but only for 6 nights. Is the Grand Canyon really worth the long trip, or would a day trip to LA be better?0
