I will leave the reservations as they are, and just take the 3 days with buffet. I know 100% my parents will make the most of it and take our son whilst we go off to try some of the more yummy places in peace and quiet. Then my folks can try other things on the other 3 days as well.
Trust me, my parents will be in heaven at the buffet, my mum eats tiny amounts of lots of little bits. It's the ideal place for her to be, as she can pick and choose.
Im finding some better deals since when i booked, thats the problem. I changed earlier as the old MGM was actually more expensive by $100, without the buffet. I wish i could just find a good deal for the early part of the week in one of the new hotels, but its Martin Luther King day, think thats the stumbling block.
Thanks for all the help.0 -
AprilBut Vegas is the party capital of America. Surely there is loads of Batchelor parties which board in other US cities? Meaning in direct flights would be more common?
Big difference is alcohol is not free on internal US flights...plus, the flight is shorter so less time to have to deal with it if there is a rowdy bunch...plus, going away for stag/hen dos isn't as common in the US as here...plus, there are more flights to Vegas each day from cities within the US, so not all the stag/hens that day crammed onto one flight from each city...plus, the drinking culture in the US is much different than here.
I agree it's down to personal experience, but statistically, I really do think you have a much higher chance of a stag or hen do on a direct flight to Vegas from the UK than you do in making a connection. Of course it may not be a reason many would use to avoid booking such flights, but I can see it being a reason some would avoid those flights.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Did you do the whole wedding thing, dress, guests sit down dinner? I am not wanting the whole dress and big day thing. I would even entertain Elvis as my mum is a massive fan. Im called Lisa Marie, just incase you wondered how big a fan, lol. I would like to have photos on the strip though, is this bookable on the day or should i prebook now?
I can't believe i fly Jan 17th have 1 week there before flying off on 3 month honeymoon and i have not planned the wedding at all.
Thanks for the link, i have looked at that resteraunt and it gets great reviews, not sure its a parents and 3 year old place, or am i wrong?
Sorry for all questions, think im now on countdown meltdown, not just the wedding but being away from home until may!!!0 -

lisa... as far as i am aware they wasnt recording the tv show when we were there. Our ceremony was the garden/gazebo outdoor chapel, at 8pm just as it was getting dark. All communication prior to us travelling was done via email and they were very responsive and helpful whenever we had a question.
Once in Vegas, they day before the wedding we went to the county office to get the licence, by pure luck one of the chapels limo drivers was parked out the front so we went and had a quick chat. He was a top bloke and drove us in the limo back to the chapel to introduce us to our wedding co-ordinator to ensure we had everything we wanted. Once at the chapel the woman talked through what we had ordered, she took us out to see where we would be having the ceremony and then took the missus to the flower room for her to choose the flowers/ribbon colours.
The women assured us everything was fine and they were all set for our ceremoney the following evening and we left confident that they would deliver all they promised,
The next day the limo driver turned up at our hotel (Luxor) bang on time and everything was perfect. Quiet, understated, but not tacky ceremony and exactly how we wanted it. Popped back to the chapel the next day to get the photos. had a littel bit of a hard sell for additional photos and add ons but we knew what we wanted and they were fine.
there are laods of chapels to choose from out there, but from our experience chapel of flowers were excellent and come well recommended0 -
AprilI am sure it must be nice to stay at 3 different hotels and i know many others have done it. But wouldn't changing 3 times in a short space be a pain? Having to check in and check out and mess about with luggage. You would feel tied surely?
Or am i missing something?
I don't think it would be a massive struggle with choosing 3 different hotels personally. We are there for 7 nights so in my thinking we could spend the first two nights say at the Bellagio, then move onto PH for three nights and then stay at MGM for our final two nights, Our thinking in moving to 3 different hotels in a week, its like starting a new chapter in our holiday, exploring a bit more between the complexes. Also it will be handy for future reference. Tiredness only normally kicks in when we get back home to normality! The only problem I'm having is weighing up all the different hotels, which ones to go for, prices etc etc. I find it quite a buzz trying to look at different promotions for the best prices! Any help or ideas is appriciated :beer:0 -
Just a heads up on the Mirage website (normal reservation system, no offer code) a tower suite is coming up at only $180 for 1st April (1 night only) all other nights anyside of this are over $300 a night.... I don't want to change hotels just for the sake of 1 night, but seems like a bargain for someone! The Head Honcho (does very little work)0

I just want a no drama, no fuss short ceremony and the we are going to head off with my parents for a nice meal. Suggestions on that happily recieved. I have been looking at Craftsteak??? Think thats the name!!

Wow, this thread has got busy again!!
I ate in Craftsteak back in may 2008 on my 40th birthday, it was a fantastic meal, we had the Kobe beef taster menu (I've heard the arguements about real Kobe beef in Vegas!!), it was an amazing meal and some of the greatest tasting steak i've ever had. I would warn you though that it was quite expensive, it cost us over $300 for two, i've got the receipt somewhere, I was quite proud at eating that much money:rotfl:0 -

Dowsy - I totally understand the appeal of staying in 3 x seperate hotels and was thinking about doing something similar on my next trip which is why i was asking the question. Doesn't it tie you having to check out of one hotel, collect baggage etc and take it to the next and check in. Then having to unpack and pack again to check out/ check in etc?
How do you do it?
I just don't want to waste time, but would like to stay in different hotels.0 -
MarchWell, it's not Vegas 30,000 feet up in a big metal tube surrounded by strangers, some of whom may want to rest and relax for their impending holiday.
I don't mind people having a good time on the way to a great city...but I have seen it start to edge toward obnoxious and annoying until the alcohol was cut off less than 1/2 way into the flight.
Exactly Ferf,
Hey if your idea of fun is ten hours of drunks wandering up and down the aisles, shouting and every other word starting with F or C then by all means join in. I'm no party pooper but I do know how to behave amongst strangers especially those with kids-That wasn't it !
As for "It can happen on any flight" I disagree-Virgin on the Vegas flight are far less strict about allowing drunks to travel than the US carriers who simply refuse boarding. On the flight I was on I'd say at least half of the fifty strong group wouldn't have got onto the plane had it been Delta or American. They were tanked up before boarding.
You don't hear of other carriers "pretending" to have run out of booze halfway through the flight and penalizing the whole flight on a regular basis .
Several Virgin flight attendants have told me they will only bid to work the LGW LAS in upper class as it's a pain to work because of the stag groups. As FAs get to bid on seniority it means the least experienced ones get stuck with the economy cabin -usually younger and least equipped to deal with this minority .
I assumed I had simply got unlucky with my flight (and to a point I probably was as I'm sure most groups are seated together which would lessen the impact) but from FAs comments -it wasn't that rare.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
