    It's Vegas... join in :)

Well, it's not Vegas 30,000 feet up in a big metal tube surrounded by strangers, some of whom may want to rest and relax for their impending holiday. ;)

I don't mind people having a good time on the way to a great city...but I have seen it start to edge toward obnoxious and annoying until the alcohol was cut off less than 1/2 way into the flight.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • Hi Guys,

just after a bit of advice. I have booked rooms at Monte carlo 3 nights and then MGM 3 nights. The MGM includes the buffet all day thing, which my parents will love.

Im now thinking of just swopping it all over to MGM, and cancelling Monte Carlo.!! Do i need to rebook MGM as a total 6 nights or can i just go ahead and make a seperate booking for the 3 nights i would swop? Dont want to make the deal no longer valid if im using it twice. Failing that could i just phone up and add the first 3 days?

Many thanks from a Vegas bride to be in less than 2 weeks!!!!!

me and my girlfriend are going to Vegas in October to get married (on 10/10/10!) ... I've been a couple of times before back in my single days and she's been once, but this time we'll be taking our 4 year old son

we're thinking of getting a one-bedroom suite at the Four Seasons ... reviews are good and seems to more child-friendly than most and has access to all the Mandalay Bay facilities ... it's a bit pricey but currently you get 2 nights for the price of 1 so doesn't work out too bad ... planning on booking the hotel and the (Virgin) flights direct - is this the best way? ... any advice from others who have tied the knot and/or taken kids there would be very welcome

got married last june at the chapel of flowers, had an 8pm evening ceremony. then we hired a room at maggianos and had a meal there. couldnt have asked for better service from either company and had a fantastic day. would certainly recommend both the chapel and the restaurant based on what we had last year

Congrats on the upcoming wedding! I don't know what the exact T&Cs of the MGM offer is - if it's not limited to a number of nights or anything, and it's available for the additional days, it may be easiest to just call and ask if you can extend the booking to cover the other nights. If you make a separate booking, you could probably get them linked at check-in - but there might be a chance you'd have to move rooms (I would think this chance is small, but there is a possibility).

Other option I suppose would be to rebook for 6 days if the offer is still available and then cancel the original 3-day booking (assuming it's cancellable).

I'm not sure what the hotel cost is with the all-day buffet (how much more it costs with the all-day buffet than without it) - but there are a lot of dining options in Vegas...so it may be that you don't find you want to eat at the MGM buffet enough to justify the additional cost, depending on what that cost is.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the response, it will cost us an extra $45 for the extra 3 days buffet as the hotel is similary priced as the monte carlo. I was thinking that for $45 you would only need to eat one meal a day there and it would have earnt its money.

I actually cancelled an earlier booking to go to the buffet option today and so i can cancel. Im just not sure if its worth sticking with the same hotel and not having my parents have to up and swop midweek?

I have checked and it is available for the 6 nights, just was not sure which way is best to go about changing it.

I think it's a fair argument...a group of stags or hens could get on any flight, sure...but a direct flight to Vegas will have a higher proportion of stag and hen dos than a flight that goes to, say, Chicago, first...on average, at least.

We've never had a terrible experience with stag/hen dos, but we have had waaaay more such parties on the Virgin flight than any other flight to any other city.

I agree that you can't necessarily control the demographic of your fellow passengers in general, but direct Vegas flights DO attract more loud/rowdy crowds than other flights. Thankfully we haven't had any terrible experiences, but once or twice it was only due to the free alcohol being cut off that prevented things from going that way, I think.

But Vegas is the party capital of America. Surely there is loads of Batchelor parties which board in other US cities? Meaning in direct flights would be more common?

Its all down to previous experience. I have been to Vegas a fair few times and have never had a stag party on a flight. I did have Richard Branson on one though.
  • Westhamdaz,

Thanks for the feedback i have been looking at the little chapel of the flowers, slightly put off by the tv show being made there at the moment. I know you dont have to take part, just didnt know if it would make it alot more busy?

I just want a no drama, no fuss short ceremony and the we are going to head off with my parents for a nice meal. Suggestions on that happily recieved. I have been looking at Craftsteak??? Think thats the name!!

  • I doubt your going to want to go to the same buffet every single day, it can be tiring!

yeah the buffet is a good deal BUT i really couldn't eat at the MGM grand buffet everyday . it is fine ( not exceptional) in terms of quality , but to exclude yourself from the delights of The Bellagio buffet or The Spice market buffet is to pass up on the true superstars of the Las Vegas buffet scene . not mention the few 100 restaurants to pick from on the strip . you have such choice why feel obligated to eat at the MGM grand buffet everyday .

you can get a steak dinner at Ellis Island for $6 lest we forget .
