    Hello people!

Still been trying to keep up to date with the thread since we last went to LV last April. We have now booked our flights to go back there in April this evening ( £473.80 each with Virgin ) so all very exciting again! :j Now just need to sort out where we want to stay. We are thinking of staying at 3 different hotels this time, maybe have 2 nights then 3 nights as it will be Friday,Saturday and Sunday then 2 nights. For the weekend 3 nights we might do a cheap hotel to keep the cost down as from memory weekend rates in Vegas are a lot higher than weekdays even with promotions. In the past we have stayed at Luxor,MGM and The Wynn. Ideally we would like to try 3 different hotels and possibly experiencing down town for a couple of nights. Ive seen a number of negative posts about staying down town, does anyone have any positive recommendations?

I am sure it must be nice to stay at 3 different hotels and i know many others have done it. But wouldn't changing 3 times in a short space be a pain? Having to check in and check out and mess about with luggage. You would feel tied surely?

    Or am i missing something?

    Hi all

Its been a while since I was on here, some will know that. Anyway I may be going this year after all, in August...I know its hot!!!

I have a question tho as I havent flown Virgin for over 2 years and VOWED never to again, BUT have they sorted those tin cans they use on the Gatwick/Vegas route yet as I can get a flight in Aug for around £450.

If they havent I will prob go from Norwich again

hey Photome long time no see around here , you were one of the true stars of thread back in the beginning . welcome back , nothing much has changed including the Virgin flight .

    Hi, looking for opinions please.

Still trying to book for July so want a hotel with a good pool was thinking MGM, any others that have good pools?

Also weighing up the package/ separate options - there are 3 of us sharing one room, 7 nights, have been looking at MGM bungalow suite, looking now at July prices direct with hotel + flight is near enough same as a package, I realise it's too early for hotel deals yet but any views on whether it's likely that significant savings can be made by waiting for hotel deals?

It doesn't look likely that flight prices are going to change much for July - MCR/GLA/NCL. Cheapest £569 Thomas Cook, others £700ish!!

Package flight is with US Airways or BA, any bad experiences??

    Thanks:beer:

Best pool in Vegas = Mandalay Bay IMO ( and a lot of others as well )

you could probably make savings nearer the time , but assuming you cancel the MGM bungalow offer without penalty , and you are happy with the price as is , no reason not to book now then see what else comes along between now and the week you go .

flew US Airways into Philly . good seats and seats arrangement . we were delayed a few hours , but that can happen to any airline . would use again
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I'm a huge fan of non direct -for lots of reasons.
I found the direct fine until I was unlucky to experience a big stag group on one of the flights (made worse by the fact Virgin spread them through the plane instead of seating them together). It was like been trapped in a Wetherspoons on a Saturday night but somewhat harder to leave ! !

Can't really use this an as argument.
A group of Stag's or Hens could get on any flight. And i would prefer to have a group like that split up than all sitting in the row infront/behind me.

I flew indirect with AA to Vegas and had a 25+ stone american woman placed in the seat (well actually on the seat - she couldn't fit in it) next to me. There was just as much chance of her flying direct.

I think it's a fair argument...a group of stags or hens could get on any flight, sure...but a direct flight to Vegas will have a higher proportion of stag and hen dos than a flight that goes to, say, Chicago, first...on average, at least.

We've never had a terrible experience with stag/hen dos, but we have had waaaay more such parties on the Virgin flight than any other flight to any other city.

I agree that you can't necessarily control the demographic of your fellow passengers in general, but direct Vegas flights DO attract more loud/rowdy crowds than other flights. Thankfully we haven't had any terrible experiences, but once or twice it was only due to the free alcohol being cut off that prevented things from going that way, I think.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Virgin flights are fine. Have used them and BA and would still pick Virgin over BA to Vegas and thats with the Gatwick Fleet.
The IFE isn't as good as other virgin planes, but the service is just as good and your going to Vegas. The flight is just something you have to live with as a means of transport. Get there as quick as you can.

Had to use two pillows and a blanket under-arris to make it remotely comfortable.

You must not have as much padding on your rear as I do ;)

I think its safe to say its either a love or hate thing with the Virgin flights.

choosing our hotels for this years stay is even harder that trying to plan for our wedding trip last year, there seems to be much better accommodation available at pretty decent rates for when we want to go.

The missus has now found 7 nights (pay for just 6) at signature mgm, plus 2 x mgm brekky buffets per day for a similar price to 6 nights at the encore.

We didnt visit either properties last year but both look nice from what we've seen of them online.

Looks like we may be flying virgin as BA dont have any reward flights available on the dates we are to travel. Ive flown virgin a dozen times before an always been upper class, the thought of economy and the quality of the plane/service on board fills me with dread!!

me and my girlfriend are going to Vegas in October to get married (on 10/10/10!) ... I've been a couple of times before back in my single days and she's been once, but this time we'll be taking our 4 year old son

we're thinking of getting a one-bedroom suite at the Four Seasons ... reviews are good and seems to more child-friendly than most and has access to all the Mandalay Bay facilities ... it's a bit pricey but currently you get 2 nights for the price of 1 so doesn't work out too bad ... planning on booking the hotel and the (Virgin) flights direct - is this the best way? ... any advice from others who have tied the knot and/or taken kids there would be very welcome
