There was the UK ID cards, which weren't widely supported, and due to the costs of producing them, it's been shelved for now.....

I thought ID cards were being phased in and were now available in NW England.

OK, you asked for it, MOTEL 6 Don't forget the $20 trick, they will take the dead crack wh0re out from under your bed for that. Right on the corner of the MGM next to Hooters

I was trying to think of a Motel nearby, even that is $50 a night at their standard rates !!!

This one is just behind Mote 6 and a couple of dollars less http://www.easyclicktravel.com/PageHotelDetail.aspx?hotelId=1988&provider=localTgsProvider&SearchResults=1&st=2

That one didn't work. They arrive late on Saturday night so as long as it is safe they aren't too bothered where they end up. Somewhere near the airport might be ok too, I guess.

Just while I am thinking about it - I read a good piece of advice here about taking my driving licence with me to use out and about for ID so that my passport could be left in the hotel safe.
I am not going to be driving so do I just need to take the photocard part or do I need to take the paper bit as well???
Thanks.

When I was there in May I hadn't really thought about photo ID for using my credit card. I had my Costco membership card and never once was it refused or even queried!!:rotfl:

Just been looking at this offer had planned to go on the helicopter tour rather than the plane tour just wondered what people thin,k obviously going on the plane would save a lot more money with this offer.

In 2000 I did the airplane trip and got very quesy 'cos it's bumpy (not usually a bad traveller). Last year went by Helicopter and it was brilliant.

Helicopter everytime. I am taking the family in a weeks time and although it's gonna cost - it'll be the chopper trip

Plane (Scenic) was freezing cold in winter. We were sat at the back and could see the sky thru the holes where the door met the plane. Scared the !!!! out of me as well.

Except that airlines such as Thomson have said that they don't accept it as a valid form of ID and require a passport.

I stayed there in 1997...I would not recommend it even though we were short a crack wh0re in our room (now I feel cheated). OK, sure it may have changed a lot since we were there, but I doubt it's changed that much. I would stay at Hooters before I would stay at the Motel 6 again...then again, Hooters isn't cheap for Saturday AND charge a resort fee.

I'd maybe try priceline.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
