big thanks for the offer stoneman - i'm really tempted by this, the lack of casino and walk to the strip is is really off-putting tho :( big shame :(

I think you got the days/dates slightly wrong. The Dodgers play on a Wednesday and as the Cactus League is still going on in Arizona it will be a split squad game. The Chicago game is mid March? (did I miss the dodgers playing their mid March??)

also, given that the first game of the regular season is the next day you are very very unlikely to see anyone of note. Probably only a few who have been brought up from the 51's, so tickets should be easy to come by.

Yep apologies, they are playing twice, once in mid march and then again on 31st tckts not yet available for the latter

But more often than not £20-£40

True - but you will get closer to the £100 at peak times eg school holidays, when the standard fare is inflated. For 3rd week in January, the difference will be smaller.

Similar M+M costs and savings for our trip end December 2009.

So has anyone stayed at the Flamingo?

    I've ruled out:

Luxor - Resort fees and down the far end.
Stratosphere, Sahara - Too far up the strip
    Hooters - Off strip
    Circus Cirus - Bad reviews
Imperial Palace - Cheap, but bad pool complex

The Harrahs chain though does look quite appealing and Flamingos the most due to its pool complex.

However I'm struggling to find a package / make it up seperately to be less than £700 pp. can any one help?

    That's
3 blokes, 2 rooms (1 may be considered)
    Direct flights - 18th- 28th April 2010

Thank you. It is officially on the list. I trust Tracy implicitly on all things chocolate-related. :)

One other factor for booking Paris was our win/loss statements for 2009...based on MGM and HET figures combined, 70% of our losses between us were at Bally's. Now I know we gamble more at the casino associated with our hotel, but I would still not have expected the percentage to be quite that high. ;) Paris was one of the casinos we came out ahead over the year, though my husband's big win on one machine there sort of skews those results a bit.

Not being a slots player myself, out of interest, how does your win/lose statement compare to the comps offered? eg lost $100 in the year but had 10 nights comped at Paris.

From memory, isnt Flamingo the pool where anyone can just walk in, maybe after 1pm or something?

Have you tried the recent MGM Grand deals posted? Usually around $60 a night on average. Or try fatwallet. Pool is great there.
