Info for anyone going to the Encore. I was told by marketing that the valet on the side of the building (they call it the port de cochere lol) is no more. They have built a nightclub with a swimming pool there, quite how they managed that I am not sure. I was told that the Valet has been moved around the front, not sure on that one either
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Where is it, and is there any reason for staying there as oppossed to a normal casino hotel or one of the Condos regularley raved about on here, ie Signature and Platinum. I have never heard of the HGV

There are at least 2 on the strip, one up near the Stratosphere and one behind Flamingo. Which one do you mean?

Basic flights with Virgin Atlantic 18th-28th April

= £489 per person (the 2nd cheapest, difference is about £1.50).

Going through that deal, for 3 adults 1 room (deluxe)

    = $1,176.00 dollars = £734

    £734 / 3 = £244

    489 + 244 = £733

I had found the same deal through a comparison website for £689 but can't find it now! Might have been eBookers.com

I know you want a direct flight but you could fly with Delta for £410 each.

Also, you said you wanted to avoid resort fees but have you considerred the Mirage? The pool is excellent and there is also the Bare pool which you would probably enjoy. The location is good, as you're looking for clubs there is Jet in the Mirage, you're just across the road (well it looks close!) from the Palazzo and not too far from Wynn/Encore for clubs too.

Are you sure you want to go for 10 nights? I assume you're going to be doing a lot of partying so I wonder if that might be a bit too long. Vegas can be cheap but bars and clubs aren't. Even a few drinks at the pool can end up costing quite a bit (a couple of cocktails each day soon adds up!)

What are the Harrahs group like?

Has anyone stayed in any of them?

They seem to get mixed reviews.

Had a look at each website and none of the rooms look very appealing, but I guess the location of each is very good.

I've also read the Harrah's group seem to be quite successful when doing the "$20 trick upgrade" so may be worth the gamble.

Harrah's pool looks very basic, much like IP.

Bally's and Paris look very nice.

Flamingo's looks the best but it seems looking online they allow any tom !!!!!! or harry in after 1PM.

I'm still struggling as to whether to go for 1 or 2 rooms?

If we went for the 1 room, I'm guessing we would be supplied with a "camp bed" or similar?

If we paid through eBooker would be pay the whole lump sum now like with normal package holidays, or would be be expected to pay for the hotel on arrival/ departure?

As photome indicated, I've stayed at Bally's a number of times (10+ - not quite hundreds but god did it make me laugh).

I don't think that Bally's is the best option for 3 20somethings. It's much more plain and sedate than many other hotels as a rule (it's why we like it). The only big plus for Bally's is the size of the room - with 3 of you, it might be worth considering but only for the reason of more space. The south tower rooms were very worn when we stayed in them about 5 years ago...the north tower rooms are very nice but few have decent views. Bally's pool is a basic rectangle.

You can request a roll-away bed if you book direct (not sure if you book via a 3rd party but you could request one at check-in). I cannot begin to imagine the room we had at Harrah's with an extra bed in there - it was tiny, but it probably wasn't a typical room.

As for reviews, you have to really read them...people get a bee in their bonnet about something silly and give a hotel 1* and completely slate it. You also have to consider that many reviews will be Americans who are used to higher quality hotels than those in Europe. Also, these hotels typically have 1000+ rooms (sometimes 2000+ or 3000+). So some rooms have just been renovated and others are at the end of their useful life. Without paying for an upgrade at booking, it's a crapshoot what you'll get.

Check the traveller photos at tripadvisor.com - but look through a lot of them - you don't want to look at the first two and think it's great only to find out that was some major upgrade and nothing like the standard rooms. You can see some photos here too but note the room type.

I'm not a bar/club person at all but from what I've read - totallybored is right...you can do most things in Vegas quite cheaply. Clubs, not so much.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Changes at Paris
Harrah's is apparently seeking a building permit for a 3-story 72,000-square-foot Strip-front build-out on the southwest corner of Paris. It's not such breaking news, in that the retail-space part of the plan has already been announced in the form of the new Sugar Factory venue, but evidently this project will involve more than simply switching out Ah Sin for the candy store and restaurant -- a nightclub is also planned.
