is anyone happy with their bank?

I have also been very happy with First Direct but recently moved over to The Co-Operative Bank who are just as good in terms of telephone and internet banking. The bonus of the Co-Operative is that you are awarded for your loyalty through the Co-Operative Membership Scheme.0

Co - Op bank.
No problems with Online Banking, Telephone Banking, Customer Service, Branches (no queues!)
Best bank I have ever been with, I am normally jinxed with anything admin BUT not with Co - Op !!!0 -
I've been changing banks towards the end of 2009 and I have to say I'm happy with smile and barclays as a back up account.
Granted smile doesn't show the correct available balance but other than that I'm happy.:santa2:0 -
RBS have always been great, never had to queue with them like I have with other banks. As soon as a queue has started they've put more staff on to get it back down. Digital banking has always been great, and they've always dealt with me very efficiently over the phone.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Intelligent Finance have been really good for us since we changed just over two years ago, we moved our mortgage, current account & savings over, only had a couple of minor hiccups which have been amicably resolved, mortgage and current accounts are now not available to new customers, shame as I would actually recommend.ORIGINAL MORTGAGE AMOUNT £106,454.00 (Started Sept 2007)
NOV 2021 O/S AMOUNT £1,694.41 OUR DEBT REDUCED BY £104,759.59 by std regular, over-payments & off-setting.
BofE +0.19% Tracker Repayment Offset Mortgage Discounted Sept 07-10 then increased to BofE +0.62% until 20270 -
I've banked with HSBC, RBS, Halifax, Barclays and First Direct.
HSBC - 8/10. Banked with them for nearly 20 years, including student account, mortgage and savings and been very happy. I think their online service is the best of the 3 I've used (Halifax and FD being the other two). I have put up with rates slightly below the the market leaders because I've never had any problems. BUT I've just moved to FD after they introduced a £25 overdraft "arrangement" fee. I fell out with them when they wouldn't waive the charge, even though my account costs £12.95 per month, and they also have my mortgage and regular savings.
RBS - 7/10. Had to bank with them when I worked there! Serviceable but not got the range of products other providers seem to offer.
Halifax - 5/10. Mucked up the interest on my current account when I was tempted to switch due to the cash back debit card on a high interest account. Seem to do some good offers (like the cash back debit card!) and then withdraw them after a year or so. I suspect the reward current account will go the same way..... Now introduced a £1 per day charge on arranged overdrafts which is appalling!
Barclays - 3/10. Took nearly 2 months to open an ISA for me. I only found out afterwards that they had made the same mistake (offering a market leading rate and then not employing enough staff to open accounts) two years running. Once would be bad enough, but twice?! Got my money out at the first opportunity and will never touch them again.
First Direct - 8/10. Thus far got an ISA and current account with them. ISA was a market leader but will be upset if I have to move my money in future to get a half decent rate. A breath of fresh air to deal with after the Barclays debacle, with the account opening and transfer in going smoothly. Current account transfer went well, no charge for a small overdraft (just in case). I'm hoping to find them as competent as HSBC but more competitive without all those branch costs - I don't need a branch so it seems daft to pay for them.
The only downside thus far, is that their website isn't as good as HSBC.
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0 -
With Rbs, not that bad to be honest but gave me a £4k loan and £1k limit platinum credit card when i asked them for it at 18 and 3 days. Got both at the same time. Surely should have considering i earn just over £12k a year net. I suppose i do have proof if i remain in this job iv got to get the payrise im due this June or they have to find me somewhere that will take me on in the same job and pay it.
6/10Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

I would go with FD but at £10 a month fee ? on your bike. I can't deposit £1500 so I'm out.
Will look into HSBC.0
