    Hi Everyone,

First of all my thoughts are with Sunny girl (my MIL died in November so I know what you are going through), Essex Girl and Pooky I hope your OH's improve.

Like several of you I won't be sad to see the back of 2009, it's been a very difficult year for us, with MIL dying and spending half of the year expecting my dad to die (thankfully he is now well on the mend) and my mum being rushed into hospital after losing 5 pints of blood. Not to mention my own health problems (which pale into insignificance compared to what many of you put up with). Also DD split with boyfriend and left her job to go travelling so she was away for Christmas.

Anyway I must count my blessings - DS and G/f are both doing very well in their careers, we have a lovely home, DD will be back in 5 months, we have booked a family holiday for July for all of us plus SIL and her son, DIL and their DD so I'm looking forward to that. Dad will hopefully soon be well enough that he and mum can come down to visit us. We are lucky enough not to have money worries and OH and I have been happily married for over 30 years.

I am looking forward to being more OS next year now that some of my problems are being sorted and i have more energy.

I hope you all have a good new year.

    Afternoon all.

And so, another year draws to a close. Would someone please tell me where the flippin' 'eck the time has gone?:D

Remmie and Wilbur98, welcome to the Daily.:o

SunnyGirl (((HUGS))) Hoping that your MIL’s journey is a peaceful one.

Mioliere, ouch re the back – take care of yourself!

Essex Girl OMG, that’s scary – I hope Essex Boy has no lasting effects health-wise.

I don't normally do resolutions, but one thing I really must try and achieve is to get my poor old hands a little more functional. They're so weak I can't lift a pint of beer at the mo.

Unfortunately we'll be sat indoors (yet again!!) this NYE; we do have some champagne, but if Mr LW inflicts Jools Flippin' Holland on me again, I swear I will not be responsible for my actions!:rotfl:

Anyway, Mr LW is finishing w*rk at 15:00 today, and so he'll be home about 16:00 to 16:15, so I better go and tidy the kitchen and maybe put an extra bottle of wine in the fridge, because it's not only NYE, it's also Full Moon tonight, which we always mark.

Hoping that 2010 is a happy and peaceful year, and that those who have had unpleasant things happen this year find that next year is kinder to them.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • lol Lamewolf.....thats all that ever seems to be on at New Year blooming Jools Hollands hootenany:mad::rolleyes:........if you don`t want to go out to a party why the chuff do you want to watch someone elses party on TV:confused:.
I think we will put some DVDs on and ignore the whole thing...till the fireworks wake DS up:rolleyes:

Have done most of my ironing:T.....only about 20 mins of it left

 better keep any eye on DH then!;)

Turkey and Gammon cooked...potatoes and parsnips par-boiled ready for roasting, little sausages cooked and mixed with honey and wholegrain mustard ready to re-heat, Stuffing ready for oven, potatoes (for mash) carrots & sweetcorn in pans ready.....I cooked the swede early just to heat up and when I tasted it some unknown force kept shovelling it into my mouth ...I ate the lot :D bloomin lovely too:rotfl:Shhhhh;) wine (for me :D) is chilled and now I'm just trying to hold off so we can eat around 4 - if I feed them too early they'll want more later!!

Think I'll go slice the meat....just hope that 'unknown force' isn't there again.....

Thank you so much for letting them know and I am absolutely humbled by the response of people on here and that thread. Thanks you all.

Everyone is home for a while now as the hospital are definitely transferring Jean, MIL, back to her care home in the next couple of hours. SIL is with her at the moment. The care home are lovely and have said we can camp out in her room for as long as we all want to and they will provide us food & drinks :A

I probably won't be online again until tomorrow but wish you all a happy evening tonight & a lovely day tomorrow.

p.s. I hate Jools Hollands lot too and wouldn't be watching it anyway ;) If I am here I shall put on my Angel dvd's and raise a cup of tea to you all xx

    Hi everyone,

Friends who were meant to be coming tonight have had to cancel because of illness in their family so we'll either do a buffet or takeaway this evening...my guess is the takeaway will win. :D Dd and ds have parties to go to anyway, so it was always going to be a quiet evening.

I was supposed to be off work until the 8th Jan but got a call this morning saying they are short staffed tomorrow and are prepared to pay me time and a half and give me eight hours time in lieu if I'll help out....I would have helped out anyway, so anything else is a bonus! :j

Sunnygirl, thinking of you and sending thoughts and prayers for you and your family.
Cranky and George, I know it won't be a happy new year, but I'm thinking of you both and hope that next year will bring you some happiness.

    Happy New Year everyone,

    Pink
  • Afternoon all,

Have been busy tidying today in preperation for ex-hubby staying tomorrow (we are going to a family day at ds's football club) He stayed christmas eve for the kids and is spending tomorrow with us for the same reason, it is rather strange but the kids seem to enjoy it!
I have a gammon joint boiling in the pot for tonight, cant wait, it's the only day of the year we ever have it.
Ds was told to be in for 12pm to help with the clear up it is now 3.30pm and no show! He is only over the back fence on the playing field and i can hear him but believe me he will have a valuable time keeping lesson to learn when his presence does show itself over the doorstep :D.
Hope you all have a lovely new years eve xx

Essex-girl....glad to hear that OH has had an early warning, so many people don't, you can now do something about it.

Sunnygirl....you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Pooky....hope that OH recovers soon and that you get your benefits sorted out in the meantime.

Cranky and George and Smoky and Smokelets....thinking of you, always find NYE a very sad time so don't really celebrate (no Scottish blood at all), prefer to look on NYD as a new beginning.

Lame Wolf....know what you mean about time, last week I was twenty-one, now I'm sixty-four!

Back to hospital with OH this am as his INR was 4.9 yesterday....5.5 to-day so now Warfarin until Sunday and no alcohol at all, back on Monday for another test and A & E immediately if he has any signs of a bleed of any kind....he has had chocolate and lots of fruit since breakfast, not sure what that will do! Shouted at him the other night about minding himself as felt that 40 years was enough of me doing it....then felt guilty next morning for shouting and apologised....not for sentiment behind it!

Lamb curry for dinner to-day I think, although I have broccoli and peeled spuds ready to cook....will see what inspiration strikes when I go to kitchen in a minute or so.

Welcome to newbies, you will like it here I know....you can ignore the loonies, won't make them go away but it will be easier for you! Wishing you all a happy and peaceful celebration and health to enjoy all you would like to do in 2010.
