My biggest getting organised revelation was to only put on ONE load of washing a day regardless of how big the pile, this way i can have it dried and put away in a small space of time as opposed to washing all day to clear the pile then either leaving it waiting to be put away or spending 2 hours upstairs.

I have also stopped ironing, this was actually forced on me because of a dislocated elbow but it has freed me completely form the ironing monster.
I realised that if folded and put away as soon as dry (so much easier with just one load) the clothes looked no different to the ones i had ironed then left in the basket for hours waiting to be put away!!!!!
I have just started doing this and my basket is almost empty!!!!!!!

Also the realisation that i couldn't expect my family to tidy up after themselves when i wasn't doing the same.
I had a go at DS for the state of his room then walked into my equally if not more untidy bedroom!!!!
How can i expect him to be tidy when he saw me being so untidy and disorganised!!!!!

I have found now that they take their cues from me, if i am dumping stuff and not putting away so do they!!!!!!
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

Pukkamum I agree, I regularly attempt to persuade my OH that if he wont put his dirty washing in the basket how can he tell the kids off. Like you I try to set an example but its not always easy if OH sets a bad example!

Really behind today as I decided that I am spending so much time doing "stuff" I am not spending time with DD3 and enjoying time iwth her, so took her to feeds ducks after nursery, meant that I havent achieved much here though. :)

Ragz must have gone into labour surely??? This is the longest she hasn't posted isn't it?

    Ohhhh how exciting!

    Yes I was in labour!
Baby Abigail was born at 11.32am on Monday. Had to have her in hospital in the end but we came out yesterday morning. All is fine and she weighed a strapping 8lb15oz

Just popped on quickly to let you all know, will post again soon xx (maybe with a photo)

Where's JJM, isn't hers due now too?

i have also started to only do a load a day cos I can't get it dry and all the clothes hanging around annoys me. Like you say - it is much better to do a load and have it out the way by night time.

I do iron but have also started doing this in smaller loads so I don't mind doing it - and I only iron what really needs doing.

I am also trying to lead by example! ... But I thought the other day - how am I going to moan when kids are older and have untidy bedrooms when mine is hardly ever tidy!!
