Shortcut or top tip number 1- ONLY DO THINGS ONCE A DAY!

Bottles- I leave these unrinsed and unwashed at the far side of the sink out of the way then I wash all 6 once a day, in the morning. Its the first thing I do in the day.
Wash, rinse and straight into the steraliser with all 6.
I boil the kettle while the stealiser does its thing. While the kettle cools I unload the dishwasher which I always run at night before bed. I load up a load of washing and thats the washing done. I do at least one load a day.
I make up 6 bottles with water and formula SO SHOOT ME!! then I cool in a sink of water then into the fridge and thats that done for the day.

So thats all bottles, dishes and washing sorted in under 20 mins.

I then sort DD out with breakfast, feed the dog and get baby up, fed and dressed.

I'm up at 7.30am every morning so I'm usually organised with the basics done for half 8/9 am

I hoover the LR, and hall once a day, and the rest of the house every 2 days. I dust every 2 days cos its a dusty house. The kitchen is given a quick clean every night and a good clean once a week. The bathroom is done 3 times a week and the kitchen and hall floors washed twice a week.

The washing comes straight out the TD and gets folded and put upstairs there and then so it doesn't pile up in the kitchen. I rarely iron:eek:

I never go to bed and leave an untidy kitchen, I always do the dishwasher and clean down the bunkers before bed so I can start from fresh in the am.

I never go up or down the stairs empty handed!

I have a basket where clean clothes go in the babys room until I have time to put away so they are tidy.

The baby chums me round in his bouncy chair while I shower, tidy, cook and anything else I may need to do.

I find if I can get all the wee bits done I have plenty of time for everything else like paperwork, gardening clearouts and such like.
I go to M & T once a week, baby massage and baby clinic once a week. I also try to get out the house for a bit every day with the pram when weather permits!

    Great Post! :T

I should do a to do list - I did make out a rota but so far it has been half hearted attempts, I am thinking it will take 6 months to get the hanfg of it properly!
Tomorrow/today I will give the bathroom a good going over.

oooooo can I join in? I'm new to the site...pregnant with my first and want to get organised before becoming a SAHM in June!

Tell me something lovely ladies.....how do some of you never iron? Am I missing something? All our stuff is so creased I don't see how we could get away with it! xxxx

Jogging pants and t shirts, for you and the baby :rotfl: (wish I was kidding haha!)

I ironed everything before she was born, thought I would keep it up too! I think I have maybe ironed a couple of dresses in 6 months and that's it! You just buy stuff that needs a shake or you pretend creases and crinkles are ''in''

  • My hv told me to only make them up at 70 Degrees to kill any bugs  but i am hoping she'll start dropping some bottles soon as she is ''supposed'' to be on 21 oz come 7 months according to the tin and she is on over 35oz and 4 x 1/2 a jar a day - so making up only 3 bottles will be easy peasy (if I ever get there!)

if your happy doing it that way then thats great, but just 2 short years ago the advice was to do it my way (9 years ago when i had DD the advice was to make up the bottles with the milk and store them ready in the fridge... people would have you believe your abusing your child if you did that now )

the rules change every 5 minutes and the HVs have to keep up with it all and chastise you for doing anything different, i used to listen to what mine said then pick through the nonsense!

for instance... when pregnant with DD i practically lived on ham sandwiches (i was always a little queasy) and when pregnant with my DS i was VERY sick... but ham sandwiches seemed to stay down,
well about halfway through my pregnancy the "rules" changed and packaged ham was added to the ever growing list of things you shouldnt eat...because of the minutest chance of listeria

oh and as for what your baby is drinking opposed to what the box says,
remember...your bubba hasnt read the box! she wants what she wants... and thats fine!
its hard enough being a mum without trying to colour inside the lines all the time :)
  • Good Morning to everyone - snowing here - so pretty!

    Ok - today's jobs -

Get out recipe and ingredients, dishes needed for tonights supper
    Load of washing on
Sweep and mop kitchen and utility room floor
    Swish round bathrooms
Two bags for charity from my drawers and wardrobe - am dreading doing this but baby steps!!
    Two more thank you letters
Get homework box for this term sorted - I did this last term and it really worked for us. I have a small wicker basket on the kitchen table in with a named cheapo notebook for each of them, pencils, rubber etc so spelling and times table practice can be done easily without turning house upside down for a bit of paper and a pencil. I also got reading books out as soon as they came home and put them in the basket - that way they knew if books were in basket reading still had to be done and I could see at a glance if it had been - then straight back into book bag once it was done and signed. Works for my yr3 ds also so he always knows where to find the weekly homwork Sounds a bit tedious I know but anything to lighten the homework burden!

I have also implemented no television before school and am relieved to say this morning went like a dream. I also laid out shoes, coat, book bag etc by the door and uniform on his bedroom chair and it seemed to work well.

Anyway - enought from me - house looks like a building site - time for a couple of hrs tidying whilst dd rests!

    I x

Thanks to Flylady I have a plan today while kids are at Preschool. Today is bedroom and I am actually excavating a large box that hasn't been unpacked since April! Think I'll be freecycling stuff later, if I make it out alive!

MIL threatened to visit this morning but no sign of her, she did say she'd call first. I really should go out and get some shopping (OH run out of crisps for his packed lunches!) but it's so yucky out there!

Really shuold find time for a bath, only got 2 hours though so wil see how cleaning goes. Maybe just wash awful hair...

    Off for my Flylday HHC...

When I put my mind to it I am super organised.....its just getting my a**e in gear!

    These are my jobs today:

    1) Book 2 more holidays for this year
    2) Hoover
    3) Clear washing (3 baskets:o)
    4) Sort out medicine box

Think its too high and still go over it, aim to get to £70 this year
    5. Do you keep a price book? (if yes please describe it)
no but am trying to figure out what it is and do one

impulse buying and not doing or sticking to a list, would like to set budget at £70, menu plan, and if any left get offers to fill up stores but never do it.

Please feel free to add any top tips...
Having lots of jobs to do with a busy energetic 2.5 year old is hard so i have started to designate easy chores for him to do, he feels important at having jobs and it means we dont have to do it all. He is in charge of recycling, he sorts all stuff into right bins/ boxes and gets really cross if we put a can in the bottles! and he loves to stand at the door on every other thursday and see his hard work crashing into the lorry!!

not a top tip but a thing im starting today, have a huge list of all things need doing in house and is very overwhelming. Have set myself a goal of do 3 then get 10 minutes for me, on here, watch something, play with LO etc, he is busy with all new xmas toys so am making the most of it. that said i better get on to 3 more!!

...and let me know if you have any ideas for topics/ways to improve this!
