just to add my bit, i LOVE my dishwasher, i only have a little half size one and really do need a bigger version but i wouldnt be without it, i hate washing up! also... through trial and error and some of the lovely old style board ladies ive found that one of the best tablets to use are the tesco daisy brand ones, much cheapness for many tabs and they are just as good as the finish quantums that we previously used (only bought when on offer though!)
i did try stardrops in my machine for a while and as much as i wanted that miracle stuff to work its sparkly magic... it just wasnt good enough

    I agree with this!!!
My dishwasher broke down when I was pregnant and I cried! It took about 3 weeks for the part to come and every time I had to do the dishes I heaved all over the sink because I had Hyperemesis.
I LOVE IT! and i'm not ashamed to admit it :rotfl:

Oh I remember having a basin so it could be quickly lifted out when I was pregnant with DS2. Till I perfected the art of vomiting into the small rinsing bit, quite an art actually...

So if I go stock take my freezer who's going to offer up meal ideas?
  • hi all i am a SAHM to a 2.5 year old boy, well i work but only 2 and a half hrs an afternoon so still count myself as at home lol!

Can I join? Not completely a SAHM because I work a couple of days a week, but I am on my own with my 2 girls and pregnant with my 3rd and I need to get organised. Not sure if it'll be financial sense for me to go back to work after the 3rd due to the hours/pay.

I have one of the stair baskets mentioned before and it's great. Just chuck things in then take it all in one go.

My other organisation trick/tip is to have a couple of those shoe organisers, the ones with pockets that hang over a door. I've got one in my hall and in a pocket I have a set of hat, scarf and gloves for each of the girls and I. Saves faffing about trying to pair up gloves etc. In the summer I change it for sun hat and sunglasses. They go straight in there when we get home.

In my eldest daughter's room (she's 5) she has 1 and in each pocket there is pants, socks and a vest so they can just be grabbed in the morning. In my youngest's room they have vest, nappy and socks. When they were babies I mostly dressed them in babygrows so when sorting the washing I'd put a vest, socks and babygrow into each pocket so their whole outfit was to hand. It also saves on having 10,000,000 drawers!
  • if its any use to you, i used to boil the fresh water and put the right amount into the sterile bottles at some point during the day, then keep them at room temp (or in the fridge whatever your happier with) and then make them up with the milk powder when the boy needed one, then you can always tailor the amount needed and if theres too much your only throwing away water, not expensive milk powder...
it worked very well for us

now if i could just figure out whats messing with his sleep patterns...(hence me being here at this time)
off to start a new thread i think!

My hv told me to only make them up at 70 Degrees to kill any bugs  but i am hoping she'll start dropping some bottles soon as she is ''supposed'' to be on 21 oz come 7 months according to the tin and she is on over 35oz and 4 x 1/2 a jar a day - so making up only 3 bottles will be easy peasy (if I ever get there!)

My daughter is having trouble sleeping too but she just got her first tooth through :D Hope you find out what's causing your lo's sleep changes (huggles)

Oooh and must add gave the bedroom a good sorting today and moved the bed right over to the window and now the room looks so much bigger, got so much more floor space so she can crawl round there eventually.

Having just one tidy sorted room makes me :j

  • I've got one of those shoe organisers too, they hold 100 nappies, 5 in each pocket :) Was invaluable in the early days when she had a few nappy changes through the night. I am goign to put it in her room now for 'odds and sods'.

Hello lovely ladies and MOTM! ;)

Im onna join here too....am on mat leave, due to go back to work in feb, but i reckon i need to be more organised for going back to work than what i was for being at home!

first off, after skim reading posts, can i point out, esp to MOTM, not much point buying brand bread = Kingsmill make bread for Tesco own brand (and also their new cheaper range!) using same "Kingsmill" dough, jusr different packaging! (Father used to work in Allied Bakeries! - inside knowledge! ;))

ill not go through each and every question, but i shop instore (if i go online and do it, i still ned up in tesco for something so still spend extra, so pointless really!) go 1-2 times aweek, budget roughly £70 a week including nappies, formula, luxuries,
    Value range= pasta, rice, salt
Must have brand level = pasta sauce(Jamie Oliver current fav!), stock cubes, dishwasher tabs
struggle with not sticking to meal plans, and buying random things cos im hungry while shopping!!
Top Tips; dont bring OH/children shiopping with you!!!
