I do need to get a diary, with a week to view, plenty of space and a bit down the side for the important to do's that week (that was as far as I read). Oh and a basket to sit on the stairs apparently it will help change the world....
I often consider a stair basket but my husband says I'd trip over it
Last year for christmas my mum gave me a fridge calendar, but she didn't get me one this year and I'm really missing it!! We've got a monthly calendar hung by the kitchen table which is good because we all notice it, but I found the weekly fridge one really useful because there were columns and I could have one just for my own lists or reminders, and shopping lists.
I've tried gluing magnetic strips onto other notepads etc. but they just fall off. Mum has no idea where she got the calendarI tried printing off weekly pages, but then it's a fiddle to write on one for in 6 weeks time etc. and put it behind this weeks etc. and the proper calendar was great for getting a list of term dates from school and writing in all the holidays and INSET days immediately, instead of forgetting, or just putting the list on the fridge then covering it with drawings that my youngest brings home from school.
Anyone know where to get a weekly fridge calendar with columns for each person etc?52% tight0 -
oooh, just googled and found my last year's calendar made by phoenix which is an avon-lady type of business. It doesn't say on the website if it's magnetic or not.52% tight0

Thank you both 3onitsway and SuzieQ (I have not mastered the quote thing yet, sorry).
Anyway, this year I am going to stop feeling sorry for myself, or as FLylady would say, "quit whining and get up off your franny".
We all have our challenges but really I do dwell on mine and any problems usually boil down to a lack of planning on my part.
Anyway, today I will:
-get dressed
- do the washing, hang it up, etc.
- do the washing up (there's not much as I have been keeping on top of it)
- spend 15 minutes gathering old paperwork and filing it
- fill another bag for charity
- put the last few Christmas presents away (that charity bag could come in handy for this ....shhh)
- do some Wii fit , 30 mins0 -

Things to do
scrub crib!
sort out linen cupboard and put DS clothes away for baby
hoover upstairs
dust up stairs
tidy upstair
mop down stairs
will try to do them 2mow but missed my chance of DH having ds while I did stuff today.0 -
WOW We all seem busy! Some of your lists scare me! Your daily lists look like what I plan to do in a week!
My DH is still off work and he has been doing loads of DIY which is great. I hae been just keeping on top of stuff. I haent done any major jobs. I need to have a major sort out of each bedroom and all my kitchen cupboards but can not be bothered
I am feeling really pregnant this week. I now look pregnant (I am 19 weeks tomorrow) and the tirdness seems to have hit me this week so I am sleeping lots while DH is off work.
I need a kick up the bum to do some bigger jobs.
My one job I MUST do tomorrow is to do hand made cards with ds tomorrow for me to write as thank you notes for his xmas pressies. He also has a swimming lesson tomorrow (I go in pool with him). So if I do both of those things plus a food shop and cook tea without falling asleep I will be happy!SAHM Mummy tods (born Oct 2007) and dd (born June 2010)0 -
I'm down to the ironing or the DLA form. Damn it! Must find something else to do instead, I can't face it!
Washing has been left on my bed partially folded cos I fell out with my daughter and her wringing as I tried to fold it and came downstairs to sit in a big huff and now she has finally fallen asleep.
I did list 16 items on ebay though0 -
Can I join in?
I have been on maternity leave from 2nd week of Oct had my little boy Tom on 14th November and now we are in the new year I am ready to get organised and be a great housewife.
Getting keys to new house on 1st march moving out of this house mid may. New house needs total redecoration (negotiated 2 months free rent and money to cover cost of materials:D).
So going to be a busy time. Hopefully this move will enable me to be a SAHM so i can eventually have more babies and not work full time till they are at school.
Anyway one step at a time...
Goals for this week are:
1. Stick to my morning and evening cleaning/tidying/looking after myself routine (loosely based on Flylady).
2. Eat well (or better than I would) to try and get 1lb off by my weigh in on Thursday.
3. Make sure I do/attend everything on the calendar.
4. Try and return all borrowed items
5. Meal plan - use up store cupboard so less to move.
6. Try and sort, organise, clear up and clean 1 room from below list.
7. Make a start on one of the following... Wills/Power of Attorney Forms/Bookkeeping for BSC/Bookkeeping for Mum.
Rooms to sort & pack before house move
Living room/Kitchen/Dining Room/Under Stairs Cupboard/Airing Cupboard/Nursery/Study/Bedroom/Bathrooms
Hmmm better get going.
Looking forward to sharing with you all and reading (and getting motivated) your posts.2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(0 -
Hi can I join I'm a mum to two boys and they are runniing me ragged at the mo so that along with a dodgy back and carpel tunnel means my housework is done on a very ad hoc basis at the mo.
I'm so disorganised at the mo that last yr I joined the same thread and dropped out before the end of the month as I could never find time to read the thread :rotfl:.
I'm particularly interested in short cuts too....I'm a SAHM till September when I go back to college as well as being a SAHM (basically, I don't work).
Organisation is just a nightmare right now, I bought a book on how to get organised but threw it down in disgust because of the pictures of white carpets, stain free walls, lack of piles of stuff to be sorted and children in clean ironed clothes and not a sign of a chocolate spread moustache.
I do need to get a diary, with a week to view, plenty of space and a bit down the side for the important to do's that week (that was as far as I read). Oh and a basket to sit on the stairs apparently it will help change the world....
lol I've got one of these but it hasn't magically organised me unfortunately.Tigsteroonie wrote: »I'm currently a SAHM mum and I'm still winging it, no sign of getting into a routine yet! I'm normally the most organised person, but the only organised right now is the diary of Andrew's many appointments. I'll keep an eye on this thread for hints and tips!
(Oh, and I never iron)
I never iron too - in fact I often wonder why I take up valuable space with an ironing board and iron but there is always that ONE time .MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0
