There have been a lot of threads about this on the seller boards as it seems that Amazon now will only allow sellers with a credit card registered to sell. I am not sure I ever saw anyone resolve this problem.

Thanks Soolin, I was hoping that wasn't the case! Might be worth it to get myself a credit card then! I still don't understand how they allowed me to put one book up for sale, and what would happen if it does sell

    Hi Folks,

Thanks for all the replies to my original question about having a separate buyers and sellers account (back in part 12 now). When I tried it it was perfectly possible to setup and now I actually have 3 as I have an associates (affiliates) account as well.

Anyway onto my questions. Firstly can someone point me at how I get into the sellers forums on Amazon I've looked all around and searched on the help but just can't find them.

Secondly does anyone know if Amazon allow sellers to dropship items, I'm looking at books at the moment but hope to move into electronics etc. and that leads onto my last question, does anyone know if I have to be a limited company before they will allow me to sell such items. All the help says is that a seller must be pre-approved for such items but doesn't say what the requirements are.

Thanks for all your help. Hope you all had a good xmas / new year and are raring to go selling loads this year.

    Pembroke.

    Hi Pembroke,

to find the sellers forum on the Amazon site, go into your seller account & on the left hand side of the page there should be a box called "visit our seller discussion boards" If you click on this it will take you to all the different forums, there's a few for different subjects.

I sell books and you are not supposed to drop ship as one of the rules is that you should have the item in stock when listing. As items sold have to be posted within 2 working days this could also lead to problems with late delivery etc. I have resorted to drop shipping only when I've sold a book I then can't find or else I've gone to pack it and noticed a fault not in the listing but its always a worry as some mega sellers don't use descriptions so you don't know what you are getting. Have a look at the participation agreement re drop shipping.

I would imagine its not necessary to be a limited company to sell electronics but I don't know much about that sector - maybe another seller can help you with that.
  • Hi everyone not posted for a while and this is not strictly speaking a marketplace question but Im hoping Amazon experts might be lurking. I know its ok to send books to America and write printed papers and there is no duty to pay - does this process work in reverse. ie I can get a book of Amazon.com and save £5 on the Amazon Uk price (even with postage) would there be any unforseen pitfalls in doing this. Thanks in advance to Soolin or anyone who can answer. I ask because I have thought about doing this before and thought it seems too easy ;) Im in no hurry for the book so being a money saver a whole fiver seems a big saving.

As for Marketplace I switched of and haven't been posting for a few months due to personal circumstances. Switched on after Christmas with my same old books, about 150 of the dregs and have just earned £47 from them. :T now that was a turn up:D Just goes to show things do sell eventually.
  • Listed my first ten books on Amazon last night! I've been trying to clear out a lot of junk on ebay recently, but thought I'd try putting some books on Amazon and see if anything happens- the thought of only having to relist every 60 days is quite appealing! Thanks to the folks on this thread for all the good advice- it's been really helpful.

One question (I haven't sold anything yet, but in case I do): in the bit about how to confirm dispatch it says you'll need to "Enter the Shipping Service (such as Ground) and the Tracking ID (supplied by the carrier)" - I assume the Tracking ID bit is optional, and you wouldn't need it for everything you send? Thanks!

I only click sender Royal mail and leave any other info as I send all the books 2nd class RM unless very expensive when I might send it by trackable means. Good luck with it. Incidentally maybe you have to re-list every 60 days new but I don't even get asked to do that now, they just stay there.
  • Thanks helsbells! I thought that'd be the case, just wanted to make sure before sending something normally and finding it didn't work! Will let you know if I sell anything

Hi Helsbells, welcome back - I've recently bought a couple of books from Amazon.co.uk from sellers in the USA as they were the cheapest. I was charged £2.75 postage and the books arrived in 2-3 weeks from what I remember. I wasn't in a rush for them so no problem there. Nothing extra to pay - they had customs labels on them. One book was in a far worse condition than described [US megaseller] I complained and they refunded part of the price so that was ok. Hope this is what you were asking?

If you were a Pro Seller you could add a photo but not as a normal seller

I would remove something from Amazon if I was going to give it a try on eBay. Otherwise you could get a bid on ebay and have it sell on Amazon at the same time

Just wanted to let everyone know I uploaded my own picture on amazon (im not a pro seller) and its showing on there when you look at the product details. Thought this might help others to sell unusual / old books when there not a pro seller. :D

What's the time limit for a customer to put in an A - Z Guarantee claim? I've just had someone contact me claiming their order hasn't arrived - FOUR MONTHS after they ordered and I dispatched!
