Reading the seller boards it seems that Amazon are not allowing any leeway re the volcano issue. There have been bits on threads where sellers are either selling from the far flung reaches of Scotland (where stuff is routinely sent down South by air) or even in the main bit of the UK where stuff can travel by air even within the UK. It appears that some sellers have contacted CS to ask if the delivery times will be extended because when buyers get to leave feedback they are given a small time frame and asked whether the item arrived by then, and in many cases this iwll not happen.

CS have apparently told them that they must then find a suitable alternative way of getting their stuff to the buyer as the delivery times will stand.
So I'm sitting here looking at a book that needs to get to The highlands and going

What makes it worse is that Amazon is so slow for me, that neutral I got is getting mroe and more prominent as th epositives i got before it fall off the months totals and no one else is leaving any feedback.

    Can I panic yet please?

If you haven't posted it yet, maybe it will be worth popping a note in apologising, or rather explaing, for events beyond your control, or if you have something cheap & light add it in as a freebie?
I see that people are complaining that things are a bit up in the air, ho, ho, ho, post wise. Don't they know what's going on?
If I bought something at the moment I would expect it to be late. Personally would be happy if the seller messaged me & gave me the option of waiting until things are back to normal before posting. I think that things are going to take quite a while to get back to normal.
    Good luck with it.

With Amazon though we MUST post within 2 days otherwise we get marked down by Amazon so we can't ask people to be patient. Likewise the feedback system asks the buyer whether item arrived by X date, if the answer is no the system drops a star.
Amazon have responded officially now, basically saying to be safe and to ensure that our accounts do not suffer we might want to close our accounts for a while or limit to UK sales, but of course they have overlooked the fact that a lot of UK mail is also carried by air:
This is th email I got:

    Dear Seller,

The volcanic eruption on Iceland may affect the delivery of shipments. As a result, Amazon has e-mailed all buyers who have purchased items from sellers on Amazon marketplaces in the United Kingdom, France and Germany since 14th April 2010 to inform them that there may be a delay in the delivery of their orders.

We encourage you to contact the buyers about the status of their shipments. They will appreciate the efforts you make to keep them informed about their orders.

If you do not feel that you can reliably meet your current delivery promises given the uncertainty of this situation, we also encourage you to temporarily remove your ability to ship internationally or delist your products until conditions have improved.

If you need to delist your product listings to remove them from sale temporarily, take one of the following actions: 1) Set the inventory quantity of each listing to '0' until you are able to resume delivery of orders, or 2) Set all of your listings to "Inactive" status using the Listing Status/Vacation feature in your Settings area.

Thank you for selling on Amazon.

Helpful, you would think that they would put a "mail may be delayed, please be patient" & ask buyers to rate on the date of the stamp. I know that won't help people who shove it in a post box.

This is Amazon though so no where near as good as Ebay for understanding seller issues :(

    >>>> BEWARE <<<< SELLER'S WHO USE AMAZON. com. UK TO SELL THEIR GOODS.....
THIS IS AN ACTUAL HAPPENING ON HOW A SELLER >> ME << LOST £119.86 THROUGH AMAZON UK WITH NO REDRESS OR OFFERINGS OF A REFUND
Customer complains about USED TomTom 910 De Luxe that I sold.

Would you send out goods that are not working, NO WAY... The first thing one does as in my case to make sure everything works as stated on you sale advertisement via Amazons seller site (HAVE YOU ONE FOR SALE). What is the point sending USED goods that do not work. Any customer would not accept this and rightly so.

SOLD Tom Tom 910 DELUXE Version with lots of extras. Cost me from new over £340. NO USE ANYMORE USED BY ME ABOUT 15 TIMES LIKE NEW NO MARKINGS NO SCRATCHES ON SCREEN SOLD AS NEW. Sold via Amazon for £119.86. All parts CD, instruction manual etc., on how to use it was sent everything including original packaging as received by me in first place from Comet Electrical Store.

Email from buyer, could not use it (does not work), I replied, I checked everything before dispatch, even setting up the persons post code so when switched on it will be displayed on the screen.

The TomTom 910 is up market with FULL EUROPEAN USA AND CANADIAN MAP ON IT. Buyer must have the Canadian map as she is going to Canada in a few weeks time. I gave her my telephone number, she already had my address when I sent the goods, so she can contact me, also requested her telephone number just in case she cannot contact me.

Email from the buyer cannot telephone me, working at night. NO CONTACT NUMBER ON THE BUYER'S SIDE to sort out the problem, which I was sure there was none.

Email from buyer leads are missing, no plug for USA. One has to take the UK plug off then place the USA or EU plug to charge the unit. Pointed this out. NO REPLY for over one week. Thought all is OK.

Now Amazon was involved, buyer complained to Amazon Tom Tom does not work. I sent all detail as above to Amazon. No reply from Amazon that they received my email with all the facts stating the buyer has not contacted me to sort out the problem.

Few day later email from Amazon that they have given a full refund to the buyer £119.86. BUT WERE IS THE TOMTOM I SENT TO THE BUYER. No reply from Amazon. Unknown to me at that time that I was out 12 hours in my reply to Amazon of the buyer complaint.

NO WAY WOULD AMAZON REFUND ANY MONIES TO A BUYER WITHOUT THE RETURN OF THE GOODS FIRST, THEN CHECKING THE GOODS IF FAULTY BEFORE ANY REFUND.

The buyer was laughing her head of to obtain a FULLY WORKING TOMTOM 910 on her way to Canada and have proof to the facts in her own wording as below.
THE TOMTOM IS IN FULL WORKING ORDER AND THAT IT IS AMAZON’S FAULT FOR NOT ASKING TO HAVE THE TOMTOM RETURNED TO YOU. SO YOU SORT IT OUT WITH AMAZON AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK.
NOW SHE IS IN CANADA... OR IS SHE.... I THINK IT WAS A SETUP....SADLY I WILL NEVER KNOW....

I have sent the full details to Amazon FIVE PAGES via THE ROYAL MAIL, NOT ONCE BUT TWICE IN LETTER FORM, addressed to The Managing Director, AMAZON Co.UK, Patriot Grove, 1-9 The Grove, Slough, Berkshire SL1 1QP. Up to this date I have not received a reply by letter, nor any offer of a refund. I HAVE LOST £119.86.

THIS PERSON IS USING MY UNPAID FULLY WORKING TOMTOM WITH A BIG GRIN AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE FREE TOMTOM.... AMAZON. com. UK.

ANY ADVICE.... HOW TO RECOUP THIS LOSS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

On 2 December I sold an item on Amazon. I stated that it had been used. Today, I have received a message from the buyer stating that she was disappointed as she was unaware that it had been used. She also states that it is not working. I know for a fact that it was working when I posted it. I have a feeling that she has changed her mind and wants her money back.

Am I right in thinking that I have to accept whatever she says even though the advert said "used" and she may have broken it? That now, I ask her to return it to me by trackable means and then issue a refund? Do I have to pay the return postage? Am I able to dispute her claim through Amazon?

Please bear with me as I have a bad cold/sinus infection and am having difficulty in both reading and thinking logically. I have been searching for the answers on Amazon but with my head feeling like this, nothing makes sense. Today, I need a step by step idiots guide.

Add to this frequent power cuts due to blizzards - so I may not be able to respond quickly to any replies this might receive.

I have absolutely no idea what your post means, I can see you post the same thing quite a lot but am no clearer what exactly your point is. If you could maybe clarify and set out your problem in a clearer fashion we may be able to help.

On your Post ' Amazon sellers beware' you admit to selling an item as new even though it was used so you fell foul of selling rules because you misrepresented something
USED BY ME ABOUT 15 TIMES LIKE NEW NO MARKINGS NO SCRATCHES ON SCREEN SOLD AS NEW
keeping posting the same thing all over the place wont make you right You broke the T&Cs so lost

I've just started selling on amazon and was listing some of my childhood books - for one of them there is one other used copy listed, at £6300! :rotfl: I really doubt it's worth that much, I was thinking £10 would be generous - but does anyone have some realistic suggestions for what I should price it at?!
