I sell the odd book on amazon, although sales have been poor and I normally sell one a month if that! I also buy the odd book from the marketplace and yesterday found a bargain.
I need a book for a course I'm doing and found a seller sellling it really cheap compared to the others. Amazon had the book for £70 and sellers from £60 to £120. But one UK seller had it on for £15, and nearly new at that!! There was no real description, so I'm assuming its exactly the same book. Why do you think the seller had it so cheap? I have purchased it, but I'm worried now, because it seems too good to be true. What do you think? Not that I'm cynical or anything... :rotfl:£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
I've listed a few books over the weekend, ho0w do people come up with their prices one book that I have varies in price from £6.99 up to £81.07. Another that I have isn't on Amazon & is in fair condition sells on ebay for anything from 30-100 ish in similar condition, the last time I saw one on amazon it was a couple of hundred, have seen it on there for 750, but don't know if it sold for that, what would more experienced amazonians price it at? Is there anyway of finding out what books sold for on amazon?0

Hi guys and gals just found this thread on here don't come onto MSE very often.
Quick question please, I have been selling on Amazon for over 2 years now (doesn't time fly when your having funalthough it's very quiet at the moment:(), but in all that time I have NEVER been able to post in the amazon / prospero forums, whenever I have tried I always get the "seamless registration error". I have contacted amazon in the distant past asking why I couldn't but their reply was useless.
Has anyone any ideas why I can't because as far as I am aware all you have to do is log into the amazon site and I should then be able to read the threads (which I can) and then post a reply (which I can't), is this correct or am I doing something wrong?
I have tried in both firefox and IE with no luck the only time I was able to do so was for the 1 day when the site changed for the day as it was a special day for prospero I think the forums changed colour for the day and then the next it was back to the same old same old.
Thanks for your help, Peter.
PS Spotted this and I thought it looked interesting.

Hi all, sold my first book today on Amazon, whoo hoo, did 1 this week on greenmet as well. Loads to list. I have a lot of old old lovely books, mainly because they smell lovely, I know that a lot of people think that it's just musty old paper but I believe that you can smell history on them, anyway, we desperately need the money. Cats to get back from Spain, daughters tenant moved out today, whoo hoo. So is there anyway of finding out what books sold for on amazon or is it just on ebay you can do that sort of search?
A couple of the books I've tried so far have huge differences between the cheapest & dearest.0 -
Well done!
Unfortunately you can't check completed listings on Amazon, the rnaking can give a clue though as to whether a book is likely to sell or not.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm being a total numpty, how do I find the ranking of a book on amazon please? Also I know that somone I think Soolin posted a site where you can check the value of a book, have been going through the posts & can't find it & I would really appreciate it of someone could let me know what it is. A few of what I want to list so far aren't on amazon at the moment, they're 1st editions. How do much do I like cats, are they worth selling precious stuff for to get them home from Spain???? My head's starting to hurt, think I may be going into a mental decline.0

Hi Hermum, if you look at the 'product details' page for the book, at the bottom of the details it will have this; Amazon.co.uk Sales Rank: 305,116 in Books (See Bestsellers in Books)
To find out what books are selling for - though bear in mind they can be overvalued on these sites too, you can look on abe.co.uk or.com or on bookfinder.com0 -

Hi Peter,
sorry am not actually able to answer your question as I don't know but thought I'd bump it up in case someone else knows? I only get the seamless reg error very occasionally and just have to wait for it to clear - usually in about 24 hours. I've never heard of being permanent0 -

Thank you it's easy once you know where it is. ranking of 700,00 sounds pretty poor to me. Won't hold my breath & go check out the other sites.:T0
