You bought three books to sell on, thats trading i'm afraid.

    Ok point taken.

I think i'm going to have to look at a non-internet method of selling them sadly. I just wish i'd thought it through really.

    Thanks again for your advice.

    *edit*

I've realised the most obvious, straighforward solution. I'm taking them back to the shop tomorrow for a refund.

I'll keep one copy for myself and get a refund on the other two - saves the hassle.

Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best, I hope they are OK with refunds, there are very few book shops that will allow them (we speed readers would have a great time as I could buy a book in the morning, read it at lunch time and return it for a refund that afternoon if I was dishonest )
At least you only have 3 books. I bought a gross (144 for those not old enough to know) of a self published hard back book weighing just under 2kg once at auction. I only paid about £15 with buyers premium and thought I would be rolling in it. Turned out the first few at around £10 a piece so got my money back, but then I killed the market and the next few went as low as £4 , now they don't sell at all. I have taken a few boxes to charity shops but even they can't shift them abd I have around 80 still taking up valuable storage room.

My OH also was not very happy at the weight of books that I carried home in my small family hatchback car.

I'll have to keep my fingers crossed. I'm hoping that since it will have been less than 24 hours since i bought them and the fact i'm keeping one as well.

Son uses my amazon account to sell on his various books. He found some books in a skip in London almost a year ago. One just sold for........£170!!

Make sure you send it Special Delivery, as the buyer might turn around and say they never received it (cos some buyers will try every trick in the book to get their money back)

    But well done :)
  • Problem officially solved. Decided to keep a copy for myself - as a Spiderman fan for many years, it's something i'd have been happy to pay £5 for any other time.

Took the other two copies back earlier on and got a refund. They asked me if it was unwanted items, I said yes and that was that.

You are in breach of ebay terms and conditions as you have stated freight as a postage option to get round the post and packing restrictions yet are offering RM post. That's a real no no I'm afraid.

Just been talking to my brother who has an eBay shop and the compulsory Free P&P in some categories on eBay will end from 8 February, to be replaced with a maximum charge (back to £2.75 for books):

Really pleased about this as I can then try some of my old books on 99p free listings! :j

Hey everyone, hope sales are booming. I'm back with another dilemma:(. I sold this item on Jan 12th,it was posted on the 13th First Class so estimated date of delivery according to Amazon was 14th Jan. The buyer emailed yesterday as follows... "Hi
I purchased a DVD from you on the 12th January. Unfortunately this DVD is scratched and therefore faulty. Please can you advise me on your returns policy. I would still like a copy of this DVD and would be willing to accept a replacement."

Now I KNOW it wasn't scratched so this seems to be an attempt at avoiding to pay and I reckon she'll have made a copy. The Amazon guide to returns is as clear as mud to my poorly brain but it seems the rules are different for DVDs and books. Where do I stand with this??? I know mostly we have to put up and shut up and accept the item back and refund. Do people generally avoid selling DVDs because of the risk of buyers copying them and attempting to return them?
Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:

Its not easy to copy a DVD, not like a CD, you have to have special software to do this. Its quite likely that it skips which is quite common and seems to be the case with every DVD I buy from HMV!

You will have to refund though but I think you are ok to ask for it to be returned first

If they are asking for a replacement I doubt they have copied it, otherwise they wouldn't ask for another
