Thanks MrsTine I so want crochet your pattern but I can't read patterns yet  I'm trying so hard I can do the stitches, just can't read the pattern. Off to annies attic to learn to read patterns.......its so frustrating!!0

Ok... that one is easy - honest!
I can't read patterns eitherBut this one with a little effort I can - once you get the hand of it it's easy...
Basically:
first you make a chain of 4 and join the last to the first with a slipstitch - this makes a little circle (it's a round ripple after all). Chain 3 and then do 11 double crochets into the circle so you basically work your way round it. Join the last one to the top of the 3 chain stiches that started this round.
Next (or row/round 2): chain 3 and then double crochet into the same stitch! Now double crochet 2 into each stitch - this (including the 3 chain at the start) will give you 24 double crochets. Again join with a slip stitch.
3rd: Chain 3 (all rounds start with this) and then double crochet into the next stitch. Chain 2 and then double crochet 2 into the next stitch. Skip one stitch * do two double crochet stitches, chain 2 , 2 double crochet stitches in same stitch and skip next stitch (Shell made) * repeat * to * to end. Join with slip stitch.
4th: slip stitch into next double crochet, chain 3. 2 double crochet stitches chain 2, double crochet 2 into the 2 chain space from the previous row (Shell made).
I'll "translate" the rest tomorrow - eyes have started crossing lol - is that easier to understand?if not then obviously no point in me doing the rest lol!

And so you should be proud as well! I would show my latest creations but I can only do the squares out of the mag still, but I have done 4 of them now.
I have a question about working rounds because I've tried and tried and just can't seem to do anything that looks remotely right.

Where exactly are the 11 double crochets going? Is it into the stitches of the first chain of 4 or do they go into the actual centre of the circle. I know it's probably really obvious what you're meant to do but I've watched countless tutorials and looked at loads of pictures but to me it just isn't obvious:o
If anyone can help save me from a future of squares and scarfs I'd be really grateful."Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.

I have not started on this pattern yet (got to finish another project first) but reading it I would have thought she meant in the actual center of the circle. I've done that recently on a granny square....but I guess we just have to wait and see what Mrs Tine says0 -
Thanks kinkyjinks.
when i did the little square i used the center of the circle for the crochets not the stitches. i did have to watch a the woman on youtube a few times as she went so quick i couldnt see what she was doing at first!!! :P0 -
Thanks very much. When I looked at Attic24's pictures in the tutorials I did think I was doing it wrong. I'll check out youtube again and next time I post, hopefully I'll be able to say I've finally learnt it. LOL this is hard work but will be fun when the penny drops."Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.

Thanks MrsTine I will take a look tomorrow I've had visitors all day and haven't had much chance to practise. I don't understand this part
double crochet into the same stitch
Is that the stitch that you have your hook in?
I think that I understand the rest of the pattern, is it a classic granny square? Do you have a linky to a picture as I'm not sure what the finished product will look like!
Thanks for the help!
Many thanks0 -
No you double crochet twice into the next stitch
It's the round ripple so it's not squareit's the one I posted a pic of earlier but just in case here it is again:
I'm making another one at the moment... if people are still striggling I might try and set up the camera tonight and do the start of one again and post it on uTube
Ironically I can actually follow patterns that are drawings - some books have diagrams which I find SO much easier - you might find them easier to follow too?I can have a look at my books later and see which ones have these in and you coudl see if your library have them or could get them? They have the "proper" patter too so might be a good way to learn how to read patters? Not that I have (probably should LOL) - I'm lazy and just use the diagram :rotfl:
