I asked my newsagent today about The Art Of Crochet - he said he can't get it in fast enough. Has had 50 more issues of the first and second one (50 each) and the publishers just can't cope with the demand! Who'da thunk? Think I am going to have to admit defeat and go buy a crochet book - don't really want to sub as you have to give 28 days notice to cancel.:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0

Hey folks,
Did anyone subscribe to Art of Crochet? I did and now I'm wondering when I should expect the first delivery (2nd and 3rd issues) as the second issue is in shops now? Any subscribers had theirs yet?

I've subscribed too and haven't received my 2nd issue yet either, but I did receive my subscription confirmation last Saturday so I know it's gone through. Maybe because of the free gifts, plus the extra issues, you get as a subscriber it may take a little more time.
Wanted to say hello to everybody on this thread!!! I've been lurking since the thread started, I had started to learn to crochet about a month before the magazine was advertised, so jumped in and bought it and subscribed.
After thinking I could crochet a square reasonbly well I jumped straight in and decided to crochet an Afghan from the Lion Brands website - needless to say it got unpicked at least 20 times. But after 2 months of crocheting I finished it last night, thank goodness! It isn't perfect (far from it! :rotfl:), but I made it and am really chuffed I did it and very proud of myself for making something (never made anything before). Will post a pic if I can find my camera later.
I'll update when I get Issue 2.0 -
Glad its not just me then! I'm in the middle of the scarf pattern from the first issue so I could practice my treble stitch (made a right mess of the square!). Having some issues with the tension but its definitley gotten better the more of the scarf I've done, so might be time to try unpicking the square and trying again!0

Wow, you guys are doing so well. I haven't even looked at the patterns yet in it yet, am still practising the chain stitch. I'm having problems with the tension and can't get my stitches to be all the same size - does anyone have any tips?Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

mine arent either but amigurumi is more fogiving that normal crochet and you cant tell! Although all the arms and legs are different sizes but just adds to the charm of them!!!
well, after 2 nights, a bad blister and a broken crochet hook (which is now gaffer taped up ) I have finally completed the dragon :T

If you can not get the magazine a good book to get is Compendium of Crochet Techniques by Jan Eaton.
It is a great beginner book as well as something to do if you want to move on a bit further.
I have only just started again after years (and years lol) of not having time to do any crocheting and this book I got from the library and found it so helpfull I brought a copy from Amazon (lot cheaper than ebay).
It also goes through all the hooks and how to hold them. Hope this helpsGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

Hi everybody
You all seem like a friendly bunch so, I thought I would come and join you. I missed the 1st issue of the art of crochet. Ive bought issue 2 from my local newsagent and inside there is a subrscription for it, have signed up for the free gifts. They also do back issues for the cover price of the mag plus 50p postage. I sent it off friday.
I have been watching you tube and have managed to learn chain and double crochet. Im going to try and master treble tonight! Should be fun!
People have made some really lovely items on here and even if theres a stitch in the the wrong place theres no such thing as a mistake its adds character.
I think this thread is fab. Thanks, really interesting reading.
