Greenpixey - i like that square. Its much nicer than the one the art of crochet wanted us to do!! But dont you find making the animals more fun? Did you sell them or is your house covered in crochet animals? When my kids see anything I have done they want them. I have to hide the sock monkeys that i have done for my mum!!

Making amigurumis is what I love to do, I find it relaxing and calming after a days housework and looking after my 3 boys.
I do sell most of the items I make, get a few custom orders through my blog, facebook and from people here as well. Some stuff I give away to friends, family...and also through the blog (I try to have a give away every month of something or another). The boys do get quite a few items too :)

The reason why I'm on this thread is... I can't really crochet...
When you make amigurumis you crochet in the round and doing it tight which I find sooooo easy.
But "normal" crochet I cant get my head around and I would love to make something usefull in the house like a throw or a cushion cover

Why does everyone want to make useful stuff???? I just want to make fun things!! :D I really do love making these animals. Going to go to library tomorrow and try to find a book and try to learn how to read the stitches. But I have found a few more tutorials on youtube on making ears and stuff so if all else fails I will just go back to them.

    Anyhoo, here is my latest.

he took me 2 nights to make. and i now have a blister on my finger!

greenpixey - how long does it take you to make them? for example how long roughly to make the kind of thing i have just made. ?

Well judging by that square I'd not describe you as someone who can't crochet. It's wonderful! Are you going to make it into a cushion? I think it would look brilliant!

I finished my hat :j Took about 4 hours I guess. I'm really pleased with it. The texture doesn't really show in th photo but I'm going to wear it and dd has asked for one in white

thanks. i think i am getting the hang of it now. i'll let the kids name him (they will just change it if i call him anything anyway). i expect one of them will swipe him tomorrow. dd has the first mouse i made. i am hanging onto the fluffy one! So i suppose ds2 will get him!!

i found a really good tutorial and it showed a pattern and i think i could read it! yay! will have another look tomorrow.

I love the hat and the colour. I want one! i cant believe you did that in 4 hours. i must be really slow at this!

Hi Can I join i to

Greenpixey - I love the amigurimis they are sooooooo cute. I saw a book on Amazon called Amigurimi World is that where you got the patterns.

Someone mentioned a book on Crochet blocks was it 200 Crochet blocks by Jan Eaton.

You are all so busy let's hope you can inspire me.

Did buy the first Art of Crochet but as I have previously bought the Art of Knitting and not completed the throw have at the moment decided it is a wste of money to buy any further copies - watch this space

Hopefully this snowy weather will soon be a distant memory

I've never timed me :rotfl:but I guesstimate 8hrs. I can only really crochet when the boys are in bed so I say roughly two evenings.

I asked my library to buy in some amigurumi books and they bought several for me. Amigurumi World is one of the best ones in the way it's written. I have to admit that I got bored with the books quickly, they were great to begin with but I found that I needed more challenging patterns. I like buying patterns on Etsy, DaWanda and from peoples blogs.

There are loads and loads of free patterns out there on internet if you just search. Would you like a couple of links with patterns for beginners let me know.
