Ebay - Cash on collection should be scrapped!

hunny bunny you keep saying that COC should be banned and your purchase has no relevance but as i said before they go hand in hand.
If you were buying a tonne of timber planks and you had your own low loader would you pay cash on collection or would you pay an extra £200 through paypal to have them delivered 2 miles away!
Youalso said you didn't test the buggy itself because of embarresment and your excitment of getting a pram, had you of testing the buggy and realised the wheels were even slightly faulty you would have looked deeper to see if there were any problems with the rest.
Im not trying to be rude in ayway but it does come down to a bit of common sense when making any transaction with cash.
The excitement of a purchase can sometimes make you blind, but you and only you have the responsibility.
When i first passed my test i wanted a car, any car and i wanted now, i bought a bargain (I thought) but my excitement outweighed my judgement i knew it was shed deep down but it didnt matter i was EXCITED the fact it had head gasket failure and was showing every sign of it i ignored, the heater didn't work the radio didn't work and the speedo didn't work all things i noticed on the TEST drive, but it didnt matter as i was excited and i wanted it, surprise surprise it last about 3 weeks!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Exactly what do I have to apologise for?
I made a reasonable comment and was rewarded with two abrasive/sarcastic replies from the OP. I therefore asked for an explanation of their comments (none given) and made an observation of opinion. From what the OP has said in this thread, I came to the opinion that the over-riding factor here was the bargain when it should have been the childs safety. If you don't like that opinion, then please feel free to ignore me!
The OP states the child wasn't present so the item couldn't be checked. There are other ways to simulate the load that a pram might be expected to cope with. Take an average weight and put it in the pram. It's not difficult to find out the average weight of a baby and then use something to represent it!
Not checking the item is safe (brakes don't work, steers off to one side etc.) is simply irresponsible. I merely stated that it couldn't have been a priority for the OP... and therefore don't feel the need to apologise for my observations.
Sean
A reasonable comment? Saying i care more for money than my childs safety? Oh yes, i see how that can be reasonable, moron.
Brakes don't ALWAYS work, how do you know i didnt check them at the time?£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -
I had someone buy a pram of me last month, ( no it is not this one they paid paypal and then came and picked it up,)
But they did test it out with there child first to make sure it was working ok, with weight in the pram
????
Sounds like it was all in bad nick when you brought it?
Terrible condition, shouldn't have been sold. If i was the seller i would have binned it. Let alone selling it for £100.£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -

It obviously wasnt in that bad of condition or you wouldnt have bought!!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
I can see how a case can be made for cheques being banned, but COC?
It's a system that has worked, in one way or another, since human history began (as it is just glorified bartering) and asking ebay to change it is just incredible.
By the way, you should never use a carseat that you don't know the history of, same with bike helmets and the like.
If it is in a crash it may have non visible damage that would make it unsafe, some can break down.... see here for more stuff: http://www.childrestraints.co.nz/secondhandseats.php
(And, OP, while I do think that it is a ridiculous idea to "ban" cash on collection, I also think you've been treated a bit harshly in this thread, including by my own fiance, he's just a grumpy git though)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -

Yet again you are selective in what you want to read. I referred to the fact that I made a reasonable comment first, THEN you replied with two abrasive/sarcastic posts... THEN I gave my opinion on your situation.
And now you resort to playground name calling... :T If you didn't want opinions and comments (or wanted to choose what comments were made) then why start the thread?
Face facts... YOU messed up, NOT the seller. COC probably offers the buyer the best protection of all imho as you get to see the item, check it, test it, decide on it... all BEFORE you pay for it. You failed to do these things and therefore you have bare the consequences.
You may not like it but, hey, it's your fault (even the Courts appear to agree with that fact), your problem. Deal with it and move on.
SeanMy wife is a DFW... I guess that means I'm along for the ride! :j

Care to explain how you can find that to be a reasonable comment?
Courts didn't say it was MY fault. From the way the judge was acting wouldn't surprise me if they turned out to be friends.
I do believe i asked if anyone else had been ripped off through this method. For example, buying something, it not working after (if ti worked when checked) then being refused a refund.£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -

Yes, i believed the seller when she informed me it had been in no accidents, though if im honest i doubt thats true now. I think if niot banning it ebay should do more to help the buyer if they deserve a refund.£10,000 in 2010 = £00
