We started this walk challenge at work yesterday. The aim in 12 weeks is to virtually walk from John O'Groats to Lands End. We have five in the team. I guess the idea is that everyone does at least 10 000 steps a day. My team are not big walkers and we might not win, but I was planning to start walking more anyway before starting running again. Yesterday I did 16 000 steps, that included walking to training after work when my lift failed me. Only got the pedometres at midday'ish so could've done more. Just means need to do a walk each day.

On debt busting, which I haven't talked about for awhile, the news is that I need to pay my Tesco cc before it's statement date on 19th October. With £1307.34 to go, this is not going to happen. With this months pay, I'll probably be able to pay off between £700/800 and the rest will go to BF's card on 6.9%. I also owe BF £500 for all the bike gear. I think I'll pay minimum payments on the other cards and concentrate on clearing off the Tesco card balance and bike gear and hopefully get those out of the way before the end of the year. Just need to sacrifies other stuff. I've also put back my DFD as next year I want to spend some money doing stuff as well. But at the end of next year, I want to be finally debt free!

  • Hi Tirl - I can understand putting your DFD back - we effectively did the same...

Hope the walk challenge goes well

Thanks SH. It's a hard decision but it's been brewing all year...Must/want to do stuff with bf. We both get bit edgy and annoyed if we can't do stuff and that's not good for the relationship.

Just paid £800 off Tesco card!!! Woo hoo! What a fantastic feeling, much better than buying something expensive. :D
Just realised afterwards that I'm not quite sure if I can actually afford quite that much as national league is starting again this month...Never mind,bf will help if it comes to that.

So have a look at my new sig!!!!!

  • Well done on the new signature! I love those debt tickers... I completely get it which is why we've slowed our stuff down as well as there is so much going on right now - I don't want the kids to grow up and feel money ruled our lives... by being overly strict or from overspending and then dramatically cutting back

Also when you've made a concsious decision about it, it doesn't feel like you're giving up on paying your debts, just that you're spending some of that money to enjoy life and keep you sane.

Trying to get two weeks off at Xmas. Well, week before Xmas and then the two days between Xmas and New Year. Hoping that we can get a last minute deal to go skiing like BF's dad did last year. Then again, who knows if I'll still be working here. I think another 3 months commuting would kill me. Not so much the commuting bit but the very early mornings!

  • Hi Tirl know what you mean about commuting and early mornings... Really hope you get something more local soon.... It's got to help having a local address now I would have thought...

    Skiing sounds fun too

Bit of a lazy weekend, didn't really do anything. But was nice. :)
During the weekend only did about 20 000 steps when usually on a weekday I do almost that in a day. Over 100 000 steps for the week though!

BF finally got me on the motorbike as well! I knew I was going to be ok if I just got on but always just left it and left it but last night BF didn't let me get away with it which was very good. Went to the Aldi car park near us and did some low speed manoeuvering and emergency stops. After two tries setting off moving I was fine and found the cornering fine. Next time, bit more of that and then on the quiet roads and possibly next week I'll be commuting on it!!! :)

Sounds exciting and a little scary re motorbike. Hope you have fun on it. Well done on all those steps. I'm averaging about 2miles deliberate walking on top of incidental steps at the moment so reasonablely pleased with that but still some way to go!
