DH spent a total of £27 in the co-op in two visits. He went for fresh veg again and has come back with some frozen brocolli. There was no bread, milk or fresh vegetables. We are really running down our store cupboard and freezer stocks but we are always well prepared in the winter for such an event as this prolonged freeze. My budget will probably be under this month and over next month when I can get out again or get a delivery.
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

  • Well 1 week into the New Year and so far we've spent £16.11 so I'm really pleased...have to confess that it is out of necessity as no money rather than choice though!

Doing quite well so far, with the weather being so cold have bought extra odds and ends so total so far this month is £49.20, but have my tesco shop that is getting delivered tomorrow to add to that so will take it upto about £100, but will not need much next week as have extra butcher meat and fish for then. Have had 4 NSD days so far, will need to cut back slightly as I will need to add an extra £5-10 per week to the heating budget!!

Good luck for tomorrow!! I'm off for an interview so we shall share all the good luck that is going!

Just made a huge pot of spicy lentil soup so that'll do lunches for the next week or so at work. Had a quick look at the meal planning thread. As my new years resolution is to be more organised :rotfl: I'm gonna try this for the first time. I mean it shouldn't be that hard, its only me I need to plan for!!!

Freaky, I made that last night as well!!! Do you use red pepper in it, probably the same recipe, think I got it from Maw Broons Cookbook :rotfl:

It seems daunting at first but I have just meal planned for the whole month, it took me a while to do the spreadsheet adding ingredients etc, got the sheet from on here somewhere, (black_saturn I think:confused:) and its really good, even does your shopping list for you, and just put my order in to Mr T (using a code of course for £10 off)

I plan to make as many meals as possible over the next few days using as many pots, halogen ovens, ovens and slow cookers etc that I can :rotfl:

I previously only planned for a week but have now done a freezer inventory so am also using up stuff from that in the plan. I am not yet brave enough to post a budget as we have no idea what we spend but so far I have saved all my receipts and am estimating £300 for 2 adults (OH very fussy), 2 kids (DS very fussy) a cat (She eats anything) :rotfl:

Good luck and I think you will notice a big difference if you are planning. If I came in and couldn't decide what to have usually it was we will just have takeaway but not anymore, takeaway is a Saturday only :D

Good luck am sure you will find it helps you a lot :D

Just managed a megga shop - 6 bags of groceries for £2.12!!! Wow - there were loads and loads of whoopsies because of the weather! Have added everything on to my list above, reduced it from the shopping list.

Also managed to get quite a lot of penny salad, so lunch tomorrow for everyone will be salad and 4 mini sausage rolls (total cost 0.5p per person!!) which will save a days worth of bread. Also managed a pot of prawn coleslaw and celery / fruit coleslaw for a penny each, so I'll pop that as a sidey in everyones box! - Pushes the cost up to 0.66 per person, but we'll manage!!

Didn't manage to get any whoopsie fruit which is my biggest miss at the moment - especially as I saw someone with a box of 1p grapes in their basket (I nearly cried that I'd missed it!!!), I'm missing fruit like mad!

I love ASDA whoopsies - thank you!!!!

Spent on groceries both Tuesday and Wednesday !!!

Tuesday was a lovely steak pie (from the deli) that had got a 'little bashed' in cooking (10p instead of 79p - did my lunch nicely, instead of rushing to make sandwiches while home on my lunch break) and 2 loaves of K/mill 50/50 bread at 5p/loaf (dated Monday). These purchases were only possible due to me being staff ;) Then, as I left work in the evening, I picked up some Whoopsied Cottage Cheese (to have with jacket potato), some Whoopsied Soya Milk (prefer this on cereal to regular milk), and a pack of 2 Cream Muffins (total indulgence, but I'm responsible for keeping the cream cake display tidy and these seem incredibly popular - so I decided to try them given they're currently on a half-price promotion....... nice, but not worth even half-price in my opinion!)

Yesterday was 2 Whoopsied Pukk@ pies (forgot to get any pies out of the freezer to defrost before work - mainly due to being called in early) and a a tub of Whoopsied cheese & onion sandwich filler (love this stuff, but only ever buy it when less than half price)

Today was an NSD though :) That's my 4th this month :T

I've spent £5.52 so far this month on milk. It would have been more, but Asda rang me on Wednesday 3 hours after they should have delivered to tell me they weren't coming (I'd already figured that out). I've needed more milk than usual due to the house elf being home from school. It's still closed tomorrow too. The pavements round here are so slippy with the compacted frozen snow.

I've rearranged the Asda delivery for Saturday, but due to preparing for the Christmas siege (won't go shopping with small child), I'm still fairly well stocked and we should be ok for a while.

Due to the non delivery from Sainsbury's on Wednesday we've had to pop to the local shop for bits and bobs to tide us over until Saturday - milk, toilet rolls and black bin bags. The dustbin's not been emptied for 2 weeks and now they've not collected due to the snow it's overflowing!

DD and DS have 3rd day off school tomorrow and we've just discovered DS has lost his passport since coming back from skiing. Got to ring the coach company tomorrow to see if it's on the coach!

    Good luck all

Its only day 7 of the month and already my budget has taken a big hit. I would say however that my spends so far this month do include a bottle of brandy (£22.94) so add that back in, and it looks a tiny bit more healthy. Also if you were to add back in the amount I have spent on tissues and cold medicine in the last few days then my budget would look very healthy :rotfl: I did start a food plan last weekend for the month but never finished it and all what was planned for the last few days changed ! I need to visit a supermarket tomorrow to get supplies for the weekend when I hope to batch cook a curry on sat, and a casserole on sun. there are lots of bits need using up in my fridge today so possibly a home made soup might be on the cards too ??

I was going to have a home delivery shop this weekend but the weather is due to get nasty again so Im just going to get the few bits that I need tomorrow and then not venture out all weekend !

    Take care all.
  • NSD yesterday but needed some milk today, plus a few other bits and bobs and ended up spending £8.55
Had a lovely dinner of chicken thighs, carrots, onion, cauliflour cooked in the oven with sliced potato on top and served with cabbage and broccoli.
