  • dd's school closed, road outside a skating rink, so foot based for us today.

walked dog in the field - just beautiful, ice crystals have formed overnight on top of the snow and bright sunshine, just twinkling and wonderful.

walked to shop as i really really needed some fizzy pop. Was impressed the cornershop had the same offer as Mr T (two x 2l for £2.50), but still more than my planned purchase had i been able to drive to Lidl. The freestyle diet is not quite the same but at less than 40p for 2l itis near enough!

keep warm and safe everyone x

Apparently the RSPB have said NOT to use fat from poultry..saw it on the telly leading up to crimbo when folk were being told not to tip the fat down the drain. There's a bit about halfway down the page here.

    Hi everyone,

Walked to MrT today and got an eclectic mix of items (!). As I didn't want to get more than a bags' worth (so that I had a hand to save myself should I stack it on the way home) I got smaller packs of things.

Total spend was £12.51 which wasn't bad as I got laundry liquitabs, cereal and tea bags (PG T!ps 40 are 93p vs 80 bags for £2.21??), chick peas, eggs, noodles and a box of veg sushi as a treat for lunch ;).

    Total updated.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Afternoon everyone

I've updated the budget list, and I've put "30 something" in with the S's - mind couldn't cope with having a persons name start with a number!!!!

Welcome and hi to the new people and the returners, please spend a few minutes reading the posts on page 1 by Pink as they contain lots of info and also look at the recipes posted by Rosieben as she spends alot of time hunting them down and copying them for us and they are delicious and all tried and tested by MSE'ers. Please ask any questions you may have as ther are lots of people on here who will help out. Good luck and remember we don't fail, we look, learn and move on

I usually use smartprice plain flour for bread now - got the idea from Weezl when she was doing her 50p challenge. It makes lovely rolls as well.

Fab, thanks. Off to find a recipe and give it a go. Have a feeling my loaf tins are only 1lb... not sure how to tell!

Trying to resist going to the shop, apparently there's no bread/milk anyway! We actually enough enough milk for another day if I'm stingy with the kids at bedtime, just haven't shopped since Sunday and I have an urge!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who misses shopping - that's where I tripped up last time I was here. I did really well and then gave in to temptation. After that, it was a slipper slope ...

  • Mr T is due to come today but with 5 mins left of the two hour slot and no contact I am not happy. I was expecting it not to arrive, but also expecting a phone call or similar confirming it.

Luckily I have a bit in the store cupboard for a few days yet. But I am low on milk. Still a NSD if it doesn't arrive!
