That's a good price, tea is one of my luxuries and I usually get the tesco finest fairtrade 240 bags for about £5 so if I or OH get into town while this offer is on I'll definitely get some - thanks for this!

Co-op/Somerfield have Typhoo teabags for £2 at the moment for 240. I cant drink tea (allergic to caffeine so have to have decaff) so someone can have the ones I wont be buying :p

:rotfl:I just had that prob and googled 2lb loaf tin dimensions - they are something like 28.5x13x6 (i think) sadly mine isnt a 2ld one :( I know i have a 2lb one somewhere but can I find it?????

    Thanks x
Unfortunately OH was on the PC all day so I didn't see your post. Ended up splitting the mix between my 2 1lb tins but I think I was only making enough for one as I ended up with 2 perfect but small loaves. Still, best bread I've made so far and that was just value flour with the recipe off the back of the Allinson yeast packet. OH was very impressed!

Went to the corner shop, they still had loads of bread and milk so bought some just in case as it looks like snow not going anywhere for a while. Also bought sweets and biscuits for me and kids and cider for DH - spent about £12  oops

  • Hi everyone,
Just a wee update as I've been busy at work and not had much time to post ( or shop thankfully!) Nearing the end of my week which runs sun to sun, and managed so far to keep to my £100 budget, but crisis, have run out of bread today, and only have 34p left, won't be able to get a loaf round the local shops for that, and don't want to drive into town just for bread, not cost effective. I am so keen to stick to my budget, am considering scrounging some from my MIL who lives down the road!!! Isin't it funny how this challenge makes you focused ( or obsessed depending on how you look at it LOL) Glad to hear everyone is doing well, doesn't this cold weather make you want to eat though??? Maybe its just me ....

Hi all, first week at this finished yesterday for me and please to say i spent £48.21 which includes nearly £7 for ds2's birthday cake (his official party one - i made one for his actual birthday) so am v pleased as that included meat for hubby and 3 boys. Giving myself £200 goal this month/£50 a wk so have £1.79 to carry over now for this wks but have plenty of food in cupboards, freezer and found a box of nappies i forgot about in the wardrobe so don't need to buy any of those this month - have 5 packs!.
Just wanted to say haven't posted much yet but it really helps reading everyones posts. Also this weather helps too. Think i will be failing the weight loss challenge tho as keep baking tasty cakes etc (cheesy scone bread is my weakness and really fattening!) as the kids get through snacks like anything!
Bought a pack of 4 chick breasts and a chicken sauce mix and made two casserole dishes with it (bulked out with veg and spud), they had rice with it last night and had enough to freeze a portion of it. Got the other dish tonight with cheesy mash. I did myself enough bubble and squeak for two nights, will have a veg crispbake and baked beans with it tonight. I've got lentil bolognese then for nxt 2 days and will do them meat bolognese. Should be able to freeze some as the party is 4pm to 6pm so they will be full up with party food so may not want any spag bol tomorrow!

Ok, i've just done my sums (i'm trying really hard to stick to my £300-new year new start).

I've spent £170.30 which leaves me with £129.70 until payday on 24th Jan. I also have loads of stuff in my pantry and freezer and fridge so hopefully it will just be milk and veg that i need until then. If i'm really careful i may be able to pull in the £61.96 that we spent on the Travel lodge sale (2 nights @ £38 plus breakfast for 2 adults and 2 DD's in Blackpool)

    Keep fingers crossed

Freaky, I made that last night as well!!! Do you use red pepper in it, probably the same recipe, think I got it from Maw Broons Cookbook :rotfl:

Yeah red pepper, cumin, some chilli powder or couple of chillis if I have them. Not from Maw Broons cook book, but from my own mother who doesn't really cook!! My niece got the cookbook for Xmas though so I may have to borrow it for a look.

The meal planning has gone well so far, and after spending the whole day cooking yesterday, I've run out of tubs to freeze things in so other than that, it should be an NSD for me.

Was running out of milk, so had to buy some from my local shop (it has recently become one of those Sainsbury's 'corner shops'). It cost a whopping £1.54 for a two pint bottle. Never realised just how expensive it was before - Im sure it isnt that much where I usually buy it!

Anyway, monthly spend now at £17.04/£200

I haven't shopped since last week, I've a sainsbug delivery booked for next week but may not get it if the weather is as bad as forecast for this area on Sunday  I have a spare loaf in the freezer, plenty of tea bags and dried and long life milk in the cupboard so we'll be fine. I bought some part-baked baguettes last month so will try those out this weekend and if they're ok I will add them to my usual store cupboard list.
take care and keep warm and safe everyone deep_freeze.gif
