    Afternoon everyone

Welcome and hi to all the new people, please check out the posts on page 1 by Pink and Rosieben - there is lots of info and great recipes - well worth 5 mins of your time. Good luck with your budgets and please ask any questions you may have as there are lots of lovely people on here willing to help out.

I'm going to do a bit of a clean up of the list on the front page of everyone's budget and remove some of the names on there that are not posting as the list is getting very long and about half of it is unused. If I accidently delete your name please holler at me and I'll put you back on . I'll leave OrkneyStar on as I know she's still with us but just not posting a budget.

First shop of the year £48.75, but this does include toiletries, loo roll etc. I estimated I had enough in the freezer (v. tiny) for 19 days, but with re-jigging and stretching I think it may last 25 days. Hope so as any savings this month will be chucked at fuel bills!

I've just updated my signature to £45.90 for the month so far. I was hoping to spend next to nothing this month as I had quite a few bits and pieces in, however I finally gave in and bought a breadmaker on Monday. It was £35 in Asda sale so I couldn't resist, so most of my spends so far have been for couple of different types of flour, yeast, milk powder and various flavourings (onion bits, rasins, lemon juice, etc) so that I can experiment with it. The cost of the breadmaker itself came out of another budget and is not included in the £45.90. I also stocked up on mince and chicken with a 3 for £9 offer, and a 16 pack of toilet rolls for £5.

My first week ended yesterday and I have spent a grand total of £31 out of a weekly budget of £60, like others I think this weather has helped as I have only spent 49p on a cheeky packet of crisps since last Saturday.

We will need to head to Mr M or Mr S, which is nearer but I prefer Mr M, either tonight or tomorrow as no fruit and a dribble of milk left. I am pleased the fruit and milk have lasted as long as today. It should cost a bit tonight as I need dog food, washing powder, coffee, milk, quorn pieces and sausages and fresh fruit and salad. Hoping Mr M has some good offers on and will be picking up their 30p veg offers. Also promised DH some beer has he has been on a diet all week and walked to walk and back (4 miles each way) 3 times this week which has saved a bit on fuel.

Best get cracking as DH is getting a lift home early tonight so he can dig the cars out of the snow:eek:
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

He could read them online - saves trees and money too :)

Yes I know, but he spends all day in front of a computer for work and it's not the same. He likes to read it at meal times, especially lunch when I am not normally here to keep him company (he works from home).

On the advice of the Granada weather woman I moved my shop from tomorrow to today (apparently its getting worse again tomorrow) and as uni is cancelled again today I went to Mr T's.

Managed to spend £47.40 (not including a slimming magazine) but did get a lot - have everything we need up to at least next weekend.

I'm on a new 1200 cals a day diet (a la Anna Richardson programme on C4) for 2 weeks (day 2 today) and did buy a few extras for that and lots of tins to see us through any snow dramas.

I'll up date the total in a minute but I think I'm just about where I should be for the time of the month budgetwise.

Had to pop to the village shop to day as they had the papers in (hooray!) Also bought some eggs and milk and tinned veges - total came to £6.09 - have added this to my sig. Don't think we'll need anything else till Monday but may not be able to shop then as the forecast looks grim! Not sure if I am saving money because of lack of things available to buy , or if I am spending more because of having to shop in small local shop. We shall see.

Tonight's dinner is the fish and mushroom pie I made on Wednesday and I will also be making a loaf of bread so that can cook in the oven at the same time (I use the breadmaker but only mix it to the dough stage, knead for a few minutes by hand, place in tin and let rise for 30 mins then cook in the oven - this gives a better shape loaf and seems to have a better texture).

Now I need to do some research to get a quote for buildings and contents insurance so off to find the article on here.

    Keep warm everyone.
