  • Wasn't doing too bad, but decided to be a good girl and include in my budget the wine (£3.99) and chinese takeaway £5.30) I had last night (naughty AllBuyMyself!) and the sandwich I bought for lunch today (£2.50 - wine consumption made packed lunch making this morning impossible due to oversleeping).

All added to my tally below - so I'm nearly halfway through my budget already!!! That'll teach me to be self indulgent.

P.S. The wine and takeaway was to reward myself for only putting on 2 1/2 pounds over Christmas - LOL

I wash out things like margerine tubs & if it's something like soup, put an old bread bag inside the tub, fill it & then freeze. Once it's solid, you can take the bag out of the tub & you've got it to use for something else, while the block of frozen soup/ chopped onion/ cooked mince/ diced veg etc etc etc, will all stack up nicely together in the freezer.

What a great yet simple idea!! I didn't make it into the shops today, so I'll use this instead.

And so, an NSD for me today!! :j

Hubby and me have been to the Tesco. Hubby spent £29.63 at Tesco and bought Organic Topside , 2 loaves of bread, frozen peas, potatoes, yoghurts (10 Tesco finest:eek:), cheese and bananas. I went to Tesco Express and bought squirty cream, Korma sauce (Tesco finest - should know better) and 2 chocolate bars. I only went in for onions so Tesco won today and I should really know better. I spent £3.99. Off to update signature.

    Hello everybody,

I finally succumbed and went shopping today. I had enough food to last over the weekend, but with the seemingly never ending cold weather and fears that it will get worse before it gets better, I decided to stock up while I can. I don't drive, but I do live in London (zone two, so pretty central) so I haven't had to travel too far to get my shopping in and no real food shortages-yet. It's my first shop of the year - actually the first since 28 December, which makes it 10 NSD-hooray. I spent £71.90, almost half of my budget, but this should last for at least two weeks.

I have plenty of winter vegetables - squash, parsnips, pumpkins etc, - which are my kind of vegetables. Salad stuff seems so tasteless by comparison. They also last much longer so less waste.

I do hope that the rest of you are not suffering too badly with the cold weather and that your January spends remain on track. As always, I look forward to reading your posts and hearing how well everyone is doing.

    £5.70 spent today

This morning was a trip to A!di (2x4pt milk, 2x2.5kg spuds, bag carrots, bag onions and pack vine tomatoes)

This evening (as I left work at Mr M) was Whoopsie shopping - pack of 6 sausage rolls ([strike]£1[/strike] 25p) and pack of 4 creme caramel desserts ([strike]64p[/strike] 19p), which came to 40p after staff discount. Latter item here is for elder DS before he heads back to base on Sunday - he's the only person in the house eats them but I've not picked him up any in several visits home in the last 18 months or so (mainly 'cos I've not seen them on a good offer or in clearance when he's been here)

After a good start I managed to spend £19.35 today.
Didn't spend anything all day and in the evening decided to get a Chinese meal (£7.40) for me and DD1 (I had promised her).
But...while I was waiting for the takeaway I thought I'd just nip into Tesco and ended up spending £11.95 on sausages, bacon, chips and T-bags - bit of siege mentality kicked in I think!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.
