Felt the urge to shop today (and had ran out of bread!) - popped to the T and spent £6.02 - oops!!

Also have a delivery coming on Sunday around £70 (will update signature then).

Recipe please, & I'll just ignore the fattening bit of the post:whistle: Hope the Party goes well.

I wash out things like margerine tubs & if it's something like soup, put an old bread bag inside the tub, fill it & then freeze. Once it's solid, you can take the bag out of the tub & you've got it to use for something else, while the block of frozen soup/ chopped onion/ cooked mince/ diced veg etc etc etc, will all stack up nicely together in the freezer.

I made a concoction with turkey mince yesterday; when I bought it, the intention was to make a lasagne with layers of spinach but when it came to it, I couldn't make up my mind how to make the white sauce. The meal was OK but not brilliant & now I'm wondering if I should have fried the mince first, as I do with beef mince. Any ideas please?

    What a great tip! :)

Just got back from Asda, slightly snowed on but not too bad. They have some good offers on things we use so went to stock up on those. In total spent 81.46 but only 42.75 comes from grocery budget. The rest was toiletries and pet food (whiskas 24 packs are down to £4 from £6.87 so bought 6 ;)) Should keep the finicky terrorists quiet for a while :p.

Signature updated and now off to watch some tv.

Keep safe in the snow everyone. Best wishes to all, K

Tesco man made it to us this evening - temperature was minus 8 at half past 5, so my spend with him today was £52.19 but £3.15 of that was cleaning products, taking my total grocery spend to £97.24/£280, and cleaning budget is £3.15/£30.00 so doing quite well. Wont need anything tomorrow, as I am not intending going anywhere. Have ordered fish for next Saturday direct from the Fishmonger, so that will take a good bit out of our budget as it is 14lb of fish, 7lb of white haddock and 7lb of smoked haddock, for £50.00, but this will do us for about two months so I will only count half this month and half next month, this saves about £2.00 per pound. We had HM lentil soup, mince and potatoes, and hubby had lemon meringue pie for pud, allfrom the freezer.

  • My weekly shopping day is tomorrow. I've budgeted £30 per week, but after spending £30 last week (including £6 on half price shower gel, which isn't even counted in the budget), I should only have to spend about £7 to top up for next week! I managed to get quite a lot of things in bulk on deals, so should have cheap shopping for a few weeks!

    Evening all

Spent a bit too much last couple of days, but hope to be in on budget this month. Went in Aldi and M&S with sis today, spent about £10 together, but £3 of it was ski socks & hand warmers. 6 M&S mince pies for 59 pence, M&S calendar for £1 down from £5 & a few other bargains. Need nappies for baby, but got Asda voucher so off there tomorrow. Also got £37 Tesco stamps to use, so they're 'free' as I've already accounted for them in last year's expenditure - is that legit?
Little boy out of nappies in day now :j, so can save on nappies - very few accidents so no extra washing! :D
Tonight's tea was spag bol (sauce from freezer); got to start a spreadsheet for budgeting & do some baking/cooking for freezer this weekend. DH still doing loads of prep work for new venture, so need to make things easier for myself, as I'm the only one doing cooking, washing, etc atm!

Just back from Mr S ..... it was awful ! No bread, milk or eggs for a start. Shelves look like they'd been in an earthquake ! I think it's a combination of the lorries not getting through and people panic buying .

I did manage to get everything on my list though (got rolls instead of bread and cartons of milk instead of fresh). We did find a few eggs on another aisle and managed to make a pack of 10 good ones up from the packets that had broken ones in :p.

I spent £72.12 so just under my weekly budget which I'm pleased with. I did get a couple of extra bits that DH wanted so that upped the total a bit (must leave him at home next time  :rotfl:).

Have updated the totals and it's looking good so far. The food should last about 10 days which will take me to half-way through the month and half way through the money so on target here :j.

  • Evening all,

Well, I ended up spending £7.00 at the local shop for milk and few pieces. Whilst the milk doesn't compare, some of the other stuff I purchased is actually cheaper than the large supermarket I use, so I didn't feel too bad.

Also did an on-line shop which isn't being delivered till Weds afternooon and that was another £33 - hopefully this shopping will last me 7-10 days. I have shopped with A**a's for quite a while now but still haven't received any e-vouchers. Does anyone know how I can collect some? Trying to get my shopping as cheaply as possible so any suggestions welcome.

    ;)

Hi,been a browser now posting (hope I am doing this right).

I have been budgeting for years, doing it properly now(hopefully)

My January aim is £240.00. This is for food, toiletries for 2 adults and 1 teenager, cleaning stuff and pets . I use my local butcher, local veg shops, and offers at morrisons and co op. I tend to cook from scratch. Love the ercipies on here and am going to do some of the bread ones and rekindle my interest in bread making.

  • DD back at school today :D. M&D offered to get me some bits from Mr M whilst they were there so I could catch up on cleaning and housey chores. Only had to get bread, hot x buns, bananas, cheese and milk. This came to £8.72. Hopefully will only have to spend similar early next week. Hope everyone has a nice weekend :).
