I've been looking at the press studs in our local haberdashery. I don't know if I'm looking at the wrong thing but they all seem to be the bottom piece. I know I probably sound a bit stupid but is there a special name for them?Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

Lovely makes people!
I've got my sewing machine. It's a Singer 533. Looks pretty old and only has straight and zig zag stitch but I'm sure it'll be fine to start off with. Haven't had time to try it yet as only fetched it this lunch time.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
Hi everyone... it's my first time in here, because I am a complete novice!!! (I usually spend my time in the wedding forum!)
I need to make some blackout linings for my bedroom curtains... can you just please check a couple of things for me...
I have 2 windows, so 4 curtains (2 pairs) 1 pair are each 60"x53" and the other are each 84"x55"
The lining fabric I will buy tomorrow is 54" wide and solde by the metre. Could I, therefore, turn it on it's side, so the 54" width becomes the drop, as that's more or less the drop I need?
I have worked out, that if I use it "sideways" I will need a total of 288" which is 731cm, so do I buy 7.5m or 8m? It's £2.68 a metre.
When I make the linings, do I need to hem the fabric on all sides? I will use lining tape (I think it's called) at the top to hang them inside my current curtains on the plastic hooks.
Oh my goodness I've confused myslef BIG TIME now!!! If that makes sense to anyone please reply!!!
Thanks!!!

Im not sure if they will hang as nicely that way Emma. The fabric thats perpendicular to the edge of the fabric (selvedge) is normally stretchier so if you do it the other way round Im not sure if they will hang the way they should however I could be completely wrong!!0 -
I think how it will hang depends on the grain doesn't it? If there is a very noticeable grainline then it will affect the way it hangs much more than if there isn't. I may be wrong though.Getting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!
