    You did well Mooloo xx

I have got a bit more done today. I started sewing three shopping bags, they need handles on and linings made. I also did a bit more on my hand bags. Then I found some fabric for my quilt and put a border strip down each side and pinned all the layers together. I am just going to start tacking them through ready for the hand quilting. Glad I will have some sewing to do down stairs now OH is on nights again.

Back from our trip to the eye hospital. All fine for DGD thank goodness. Health visitor thought she had a squint. But no sign of it at the moment. Next check when she is at school.
I have come home with a denim magazine rack, filled with large belts, courtesy of my BF's daughter having another clear out. THey will be destined to be used in bag production.
I have just been looking at the Cath Kidston new stuff. Some more lovely fabrics, but alas she doesnt seem to sell the fabrics to match all the things she makes. I suppose there is method in the madness. Would love some of the new fabric with the birds on it!.
Anyway I cannot afford it at the moment.
If DGD would let me go and sew I would, but she doesnt seem to want to let me out of her sight. Been the same since I got back from Ragdale Hall.
I should really be outside hanging out the washing, instead of mooching around on here! Oops.
May be in a minute. I am very tired. I went to the BF's last night, and had a really disturbed night. If it wasnt me it was him shuffling around and snoring. then at about 1.50 he got a text message from his daughter to say she wasnt coming home. He was up at 6am. So it was a rather bitty sleep.
Perhaps i will dig out some fabrics and bring them down to cut out on the big table. Then I can be doing something towards my sewing while DGD watches her TV. She is also very tired. But she was able to fall asleep in the car on the drive back from Oxford.
Rufusdog sounds like you also had a reasonably productive day with the sewing yesterday.
Looks like everyone must be busy as I seem to be the first to post today.
    Happy sewing.

I am not sewing anything at the moment but I do have lots of new School uniform that needs labels stitched in. My Daughter has three children and gives me all the uniform to label. Another Daughter has just come down to this area and brought repairs with her. Then my Son came round with a jumpsuit belonging to his Sister in law - could I alter it.

I sew a lot. my favorite source for fabrics is a hop in Colchester, Essex called Fabric8. used to be called the remnant shop. they still sell remnants ;)

if you like Fabric8, then i would suggest a trip to:

The Cheap Shop in Tiptree (good mix of dress-making and quilting)

Fabrics & Trimmings in clacton (about 1/4 the size of fabric8, but 5 times the amount of fabric)

I didnt get any machine sewing done today but did quite a bit of my hand quilting this afternoon. I am going away for the weekend in the morning and will take the quilt with me to do of an evening. I will definitely have withdrawal symptoms from being away from my craft room by Monday morning.

Have a nice weekend everyone, Rufus xx

Well I have managed to put my latest makes on the blog. I am ready to get some sleep tonight so doubt that I will get any sewing done for the next few days. But I have some help with DGD on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so i will be able to get some sewing done then.
I too will need to label some school clothes for her, and also make some more clothes as she is growing so fast.

Wow Mooloo you have been busy!! love all your makes!

Not been around much lately, still trying to sort out my craft room and learning about pattern drafting as I got gorgeous fabric to make a vintage 1950's dress for a birthday dinner in 3 weeks time. size 16 was 6 inches smaller back then!! i think i have finally got it figured out will cut it out tomorrow night after work in muslin before cutting on the fabric wish me luck for it is an uncharted territory that I am wading in with pattern alteration.
I am determined to lose weight!:kisses3:
Weight loss so far 2 stones 6lbs!! :j:j

I was hoping to get some sewing done now the children are off and the older one could play with the younger one. it hasn't panned out like that yet, but I've been scouring the internet for easy tutorials to give me practice. I'm currently looking at portable changing mats, and coasters to maybe give as gifts.

Hello everyone, just been catching up on the posts. Loving the new rag dolls and gorgeous bag featured a few pages back! I need to get my flickr account up and going.

Today, I got my first Cath Kidston book in the post! (The 'SEW!' book that comes with the free fabric to make up the shoulder bag on the front) Over the moon with it, the bag kit is fantastic and the pages are crammed full of every idea youve ever had for making gifts. I love the fact it comes with the fold-out, full-size patterns for everything too. Nothing seems too hard to make, definately cannot recommend it enough. It is quite funny, I never had myself down as a Kidston follower but recently it has crept up on me. I think the shop in York has had something to do with it.

Now, a question: Has anyone been craft shopping in Edinburgh? It has been a long time since I went and I'm visiting soon. Any ideas for general shabby chic/gift shops would be great too. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

    Hi all.
A stupid question. Just want to check what is meant by snagging as not native english speaker. Thanks. Just wondering because I tried my 'new' sewing machine yesterday and it was fine but it felt it didn't quite sew straight.
