Kandipandi - Love your bags, might seem abit thick but whats a wiggly bag?

    QUOTE]

They are used in hospital for poorly kids. Lots of children who have central lines known as "Wiggly" (a tube coming out the chest for IV access) wear ‘wiggly bags’. They are little bags attached to ribbon and worn around the neck which lets the line rest in them, taking the weight, stopping them from getting tugged and keeping them clean.

wow, learn something new everyday! well done you:T
    totally a tog!:D

I haven't had time to read this entire thread but the parts I have read have been really inspiring, I hope you don't mind if I join in and I have already ordered the Tilda books from Amazon,. I have been looking for these since I saw them before Christmas in Hobbycraft and didn't have the cash to buy them then and there, they had sold them all when I went back after Christmas and I couldn't remember the full titles to look for them on the internet, so a big thankyou for the titles

    Hi KarmaCookie

Would this maybe be any good for your son? He could use more boyish fabric than the one shown and hopefully its not too difficult? I came across it earlier today and remembered your post. x

Thanks so much for thinking about me. That looks like a perfect project, not too much material required :T

Been busy making wiggly bags these last few days, Shezmit on this thread was asking for them (I will post them today).

    S7301339.jpg

I did find the instructions a bit tricky but I think overall this is what it should be like - approx A6 in size.

When I come across more kiddie material I will knock a few more of these up and post em on.

Kandipandi -well done on your wiggly bags :T:T:T Bet they will be much loved by their little recipients - the material's perfect. My baby was in an incubator for a while when he was born so when I saw the post about these I really wanted to make some but they looked too tricky! Is it basically just two bits of material stuck together with a channel for the tube to go through?
  • Hello all:hello: Loving all the new makes:T Well I've been mega busy making stuff for my shop but have been following this thread as often as possible. I've also made my first batch of soap after doing my soap course which I'm thrilled about:jI have to leave it for 4 weeks to cure, I hope I can leave it alone for that long:o

Oh Stardrops I have you to blame for all this crafting your my inspiration! Iv now made a few monkeys, bought the sew pretty homestyle and am looking at fabric for making an angel. Did you use the Tilda flesh coloured fabric for the angels? I was looking online and it seems to be very expensive but its looks like such a nice colour/texture/quality in the book. The one Im looking at is called Tilda skin coloured fabric on the coast and country website- it dosnt say if its the light or dark version and I prefer the light but its £14.90 per metre:eek:. perhaps you could advise me on this? and how much exactly you needed? Id like to make the dog in the book also so if I could get two toys to make out of the fabric It might make it worth the expence:-)

Any advice would be much appreciated:-)

Hi, £14.90 that is expensive:eek: I bought mine from Boyes and I would say it's probably medium coloured, not the light and definitely not dark. Does that make sense? Mine is a cotton/linen mix, I can't remember what I paid exactly but I bought half a metre which was waaaay too much:D but at least I have plenty to last me. I think I paid about £4 - £5 for it.
I'm not much use to you am I :o
Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)
    Diet starts today(31/12/16)! Only 18lbs to lose:eek:

They are not tricky at all if you look at the pictures they are two pieces of cotton, outer and lining, sewn together then turned inside out and pressed, then velcro is added at strategic places to form a material envelope type thing.
There is no channel really the tubes go through the gaps where the velcro does not meet up. The cotton tape used to hang them around the neck is not attached it just sits inside the top of the envelope once its velcroed down.

Sorry thats not terribly clear but not sure how else to describe it, but they are dead simple to so and a very worthwhile cause. They re ideal for scraps of material mine was two cotton childrens shirts cut into bits (and I snaffled the buttons away for a later date - I am secrete button hoarder!!:rotfl:).
