  • Hello just dropping in , not had time to post much (or to sew much!) but certainly have lots of ideas swimming round my head! Just to say, I second that about charity shops for cheap fabri - I got a lovely little girl's dress yesterday originally from Next for £2.40, lovely floral pattern, but not sure what I'll be doing with it yet! Also got a fab tweed (Monsoon) skirt for making little animals with for 99p, I'm after some brown corduroy for this purpose too. CSs are also good for old sheets etc if you really are practising!

Oh and I love Fabric Rehab too :D

Well I finally got off my laptop and made something:j I have been wanting to make one of these "goodnight angels" for ages, except mine doesn't have any wings so not technically an angel:rolleyes: It was really fiddly to do but I'm quite pleased with it now it's finished. It is from the "Crafting Christmas Gifts" book by Tilda:D

Oh Stardrops I have you to blame for all this crafting your my inspiration! Iv now made a few monkeys, bought the sew pretty homestyle and am looking at fabric for making an angel. Did you use the Tilda flesh coloured fabric for the angels? I was looking online and it seems to be very expensive but its looks like such a nice colour/texture/quality in the book. The one Im looking at is called Tilda skin coloured fabric on the coast and country website- it dosnt say if its the light or dark version and I prefer the light but its £14.90 per metre:eek:. perhaps you could advise me on this? and how much exactly you needed? Id like to make the dog in the book also so if I could get two toys to make out of the fabric It might make it worth the expence:-)

Any advice would be much appreciated:-)

Sorry to be a nuisance but Im doing tailors tacks just now (for darts) and it says use double thread. Does that mean to double the thread or is there such a thing as "double thread". Im just a beginner and dont really know....
    :smileyhea
  • Thread your needle and pull the thread right down to the bottom level with each other, so you have two pieces of thread to sew with. It is just normal thread doubled up.

loopychriss I love your morsbags - very clever especially the striped one :T:T
  • Reading the posts I just checked out Fabric Rehab as I hadn't heard of them before, but was surprised at the prices, even the bundles, it is making the fabric at least £10 yard, so not cheap. I buy most of mine from Ebay.com from the US, even with the postage it works out much cheaper and they have much more variety
  • Woohoo I've managed to create a blog...sorry I'm new all this
Do I have to be a member for so long before I can post a picture or link on here?

gemsmember, hope you don't mind me asking which seller do you use from Ebay :)
