I've been lurking on this thread for quite a while and I finally gave in and bought myself a brand new sewing machine. I haven't made anything for years as my old Singer machine was too heavy for me to lift and waiting for hubby to get it out for me was a waste of time! I've already made some pillow cases for my long skinny pillows and I've really enjoyed it. I'm sure it won't take me long to get back into the swing of it, but I can't get over to how easy my new Janome machine is to use.

    hi and welcome

i know what you mean about the weight of older machines, my first machine was a singer then i had a jones both you needed a fork lift truck to lift them!

i think thats why i never had the inclination to learn more.

ive not machine sewed for over 30yrs i bought my Brother MS6NT for my birthday last year and with the help of dvd's, the internet and watching demo's on tv i have learnt so much and havent looked back. i have loads of stuff on my blog if you want to take a peep.

Yes, me too. I used to make all my own clothes, from trousers to coats, but i'd like to learn more, how to do it properly, and learn how to finish things off better. Your blog is great. The black and white bag is fab. I'm going to start off making a really large bag to keep my wheelchair cushion in. I'm always knitting things but I love the patchwork style of sewing and would love to make a quilt (probably need a bigger sewing machine though).

    Evening all,
Thanks for the kind words and thoughts.
I think that my toe may be broken. Its very black and purple, and very sore. Boots and shoes the order of the day. Sandals it looks a mess and its not protected.
Would you believe that later in the day, the loo seat was coming off, so I bent down to tighten those nuts underneath and hit my head on the sink! So I have a small bruise on my forehead now! I say small, it feels bigger then it looks!
I am glad its another day!.

I bought a few strands of embroidery thread in the Pound shop today while BF and I were there. We had gone to get silly pressies for his sons birthday. They always have lots of little presents to open, nonsense things. So I had a mooch around. There was a complete metreage on the wall of sewing threads and needles, the cheap stuff, but they may be good for putting in to small sewing pouches etc, that I want to make for small funds if I do a craft stall in the autumn.
For now I didnt spend anything else. Which for me is a minor miracle.
I want to go and sew, but DGD is not letting me yet. But when she goes to bed tonight I will go in there and get cracking.
I shall have a go at some of the other tutorials for purses and wallets. Get to see what kind of things that I like to make the best. I do have a terrible habit of avoiding things with Zips if I can help it, but now I really do need to tackle them.
Watching Nemo with DGD. Would really love to be stitching instead. So surfing the net looking at some works is the best way that I can do it!.

i am sick of this weather.

its rained her all day yesterday and today and i do mean rain, horizontal nearly and its cold too.

wouldnt you know my dd breaks up from school on tuesday for nearly 7 weeks and its pouring down.

she went out into the garden for about 5 minutes yesterday to play on her trampoline and had to use 3 towels to dry it before she could even get on it and by the time she had done that it was pouring again.

i am sat here now typing this looking out of my office window and you would think it was a day in november not mid july.

wheres the sun gone, surely those few hot days we had can not be the end of summer as we know it?

I havent had time to search through what she is doing but I was recommended this via one of the other sites that I purchased some lessons from. I havent finished the other ones, but they were pretty good. (I aim to use them to help my friend Molly who wants to learn to sew). I thought that they were quite good for the money. Must go and check how much I had it on offer for, as I thought it was a little less then that? mmm

    Morning all

Mooloo, hope you are feeling better today, how is the toe? Do you need to get it seen to? My eldest daughter broke her little toe and ended up having to have pins put in it as it wouldn't heal.

I have been making a couple of bags for my shop on and off over the weekend. Might get a chance to do a bit more this afternoon as YD is going out and OH is at work. Ordered some more bits to make some more, some magnetic bag clasps and some rectangular rings for fixing the handles on the sides. I couldn't find these on Ebay, only ones that had a bar going through like a buckle. Found them on a shop on Etsy and worked out a good price inc postage from Hong Kong. Not waiting for them so don't mind a wait for delivery.

My email from sewing links offer this at $29.99 (think thats cheaper isnt it?) if you want me to forward my email to you let me know. See if you can use the link to get the lower cost perhaps.
