This is the doll I made for a retiring Head Teacher......apparently she cried when given the doll.

I used a summer dress from the school second hand shop.

Florence the doll is fantastic. I'm not surprised the Head Teacher cried, so would I have. How lovely that she's dressed in the school uniform.

Mooloo - hope you've sorted out the pattern now. I had trouble with the last one I did and ended up putting the lining in the wrong way around and having to take it out again. Got there in the end.

Hart - your bag is lovely. The fabric's great - what make is it?

No stitching for me but lots of plans but not enough time.

I'm on their site now. How many samples can you order and can you order more than once?

I ordered a couple but I think it was about 6 samples.
I have been making my dress since I got back from the Nursery drop off this morning. I have struggled with it for some reason. Maybe just becuase its been a while since I did them by instructions.
I have actually had the worst time of it. The zip is in, but it may look good on the outside, but to me the inside is badly finished by the zip, which has been a shame as I had made the lining of the bodice all beautifully, and then once the zip had to go in, i have had to bodge it and I am not happy at all.
I think that the order of instructions would have been easier if they were done in a slightly different order, so that the lining was not attatched to each part of the dress and sewn seperately then after the zip installed, stitched in. But then thats me.
It will do for the weekend. Then afterwards it may have to come out and we will have to try again.
I just stopped for some soup for my lunch. had a brief hello on MSN with my Dad in France, and now its time to do the hem, just about time before I collect DGD. I have 30 mins.
    :D

Lovely bag hart and fab doll too Florence. Dana, well done on 100 followers! Ive posted your button on my sidebar. x

Quick query please. Im cool with the actual technique of putting zips in but Ive found that sometimes the ends get stuck in the corners when you are using a zip the same length as your fabric so it wont sit perfectly when turning it out. Ive now started using fabric on the ends of my zip to combat it and it works great but wondered if anyone else used a different technique that gives the same result (I know its fairly normal that the whole zip wont turn out properly but Ive got a pet hate about zips having that lumpy bit in the corner of my projects!!)

p.s Ive just posted a link to a really cool tute on the no chat thread. Its for making your own button designs with pens and shrink plastic. Looks fab!

I went to town this morning and into a curtain and blind shop. They had a big basket full of remnants for 50p each! I got around 13 pieces and it's boosted my stash brilliantly! (Well, I only had the expensive stuff I bought off the market). It's perfect for doing little purses, bags etc and doesn't matter if I make a mistake. I ordered some velvet croc effect fabric from ebay to make some replacement cushion covers, and 2 of the remnant pieces will go great with it as a backing :)

    Another great bag hart :)

And Florence your dolls are lovely :D
