I was supposed to do the sew along but I never got anywhere to get the pattern. So I failed at the first hurdle.
I paid for several patterns from Simplicity at least a month ago, and they still havent arrived, so I wasnt going to buy anymore from them direct.! Infact on Monday I better dig out the order, if I can find it, and chase it up.
Right we are off for the rest of the weekend to see my BF. No more sewing for me.
I got my pattern from Ebay it is the Simplicity 2396 onenot sure if I will do the other bag on it as there are too many bits to cut out
I have time against me all the while
The fabric I used is Robert Kaufman's I had to get it when I saw it in Cromford Quilt shopTamster150 wrote: »finally finished the last of my Christmas presents (2010 that is lol)

I've tried adjusting the tension and stitch width and tried to feed the material through manually with the wheel - without thread in - still not moving. I already fiddled with these when trying with thread at the beginning and followed the manuals suggestion of tension etc.. It did produce stitches but I had to pull the fabric. Shouldn't it still feed the material without any thread in at all? Can someone check on their machine. Its so frustating. Thanks Melissa
I don't have my machine with me at the moment (last week at uni and already took it home) but it shouldn't matter whether there's any thread in your needle or not because it's the feed dogs which feed the fabric. Here's a little explanation and it explains how to check if it is the feed dogs: http://www.fixsewingmachines.com/Sewing-Machine-Feed-System.html. By the sounds of it you should take it back and get a new one if nothing's working!0 -
rsdiscos I have a Brother from Argos (different model) and on the top is a sticker with a customer helpline no. (probably not open weekends of course).
Silly question - have you tried unthreading the lot and starting again, double-checking every little bit with the manual?
When I've had problems it's always been due to some tiny silly thing that more experienced users would see straight away was wrong:o
Do hope you get it sorted out, although you could always take it straight back and ask for another, then at least you'd know if it's the machine or something you've got a bit wrong.0 -

Most people just use the Post Reply button.
No problem with crochet, but there is a Knitters Thread and one for Crochet.

Run your hand across the sewing machine bed under the machine foot. Are the feed dogs flush with the sewing bed? They should be slightly raised.
Is your machine capable of free-motion embroidery? If it says yes then there is a way to raise and lower the feed dogs. There will be a switch lever somewhere.
If the feed dog is raised can you see if it moves when the machines running? If the feed dogs is raised and not moving then the problem is more serious and as it's new I would return it.
Also when you encounter problems always unthread and take the bobbin out and start completely again.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Hi everyone - hoping one of you could help
Bought a Brother 2620 sewing machine from agros yesterday. It's supposed to be an easy machine to use but I have threaded it and sorted the bobbin but it doesn't seem to be feeding the fabric through I am having to pull it through so the stitches are changing length. Tried a trouble shooting guide and they suggested checking the feed dogs by putting a piece of paper through with no thread - I did that and it doesn't move- the needle goes up and down in the same place. Any ideas or do you think I have a dodgy machine? Thanks Melissa
ive just had a quick look at it on the argos website i cannot see anything about if it has a drop feed dog option or if its a machine that uses a darning plate (squarish looking plastic plate) to cover feeddogs for sewing buttons on etc
if the feed dog lever was off and the feed dogs were dropped you material should move freely anyway so i cannot think its a feed dog issue.
machine are normally factory set at tension 4 so i would reset that if you have changed it.
so the only other thing i can think of is that you have the stitch lenght/width dial set to small so basically what would happen is that the machine would be stitching in the same place all the time and not moving through the machine.
you need to alter that big wheel dial i think try putting it on about 3 and see what happens0
