I'm looking at having a go at the purse wrap - it says to wash and iron the fabric, do you all do this before you make something?
I don't wash my fabrics as Im usually in a hurry to make things but sometimes it's best to incase they shrink.Hart, tried to post on the blog but it wont sign me in! Keeps saying I am annonymous then asks me to sign in, then keeps going around in circles doing the same thing, Very annoying. Lovely makes, again. Cannot wait to see the mirror re done. Will that be on the Shabby chic pages.?
I had that prob a while ago, you have to un-tick the keep me signed in box, it's a pain but it worksGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

I tend not to wash things that I am making for myself. But the things that i am going to do for the shops etc, I thought that I better if I think that the fabric may shrink. Pain in the proverbial, but I suppose i dont want to be getting returns at the end of the day. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

I only wash fabric if it is something that is going to be washed in the future so clothes or cushion covers because I don't want them to shrink and not fit!
Love the bag hart, very summery fabricIt is a nice shape too, what pattern is it?

Oh I love that bag Hart, think I'd need to start with something simpler though.
Decided to make a top with the pretty red & cream silky remnant I got, only to find the pieces just wouldn't fit on the fold. Took a deep breath and cut the front in 2 halves, have sewn it together and thinking maybe I could add some kind of decoration (from the same material) down the seam.
If it looks awful in the end it will only have cost £1.50 for another sewing lesson, and I'm learning to do tucks and darts, plus using slippery fabric, so all won't be lost except I could do with having it wearable:o
A plain oblong bag sounds nice and simple for my next try:)0 -
I was supposed to do the sew along but I never got anywhere to get the pattern. So I failed at the first hurdle.
I paid for several patterns from Simplicity at least a month ago, and they still havent arrived, so I wasnt going to buy anymore from them direct.! Infact on Monday I better dig out the order, if I can find it, and chase it up.
Right we are off for the rest of the weekend to see my BF. No more sewing for me.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I have attempted to make the organiser. I have to say that I think the medium interfacing would have been better. The heavyweight seems far too stiff, and makes it difficult to pull the fabric through.

Hopping over to take a gander next.
Could you use one of the Primarni dresses as a pattern to make your own. Unpicking it and use it as a template. I have done that in years gone by to make things. I have even taken appart a dress I loved, copied it and put it back together again so I could still wear it.
Mind you that was when I was a lot younger, and serious about my sewing.:D
I did think about this but I no longer have the dress! Might be able to pick one up cheaply on ebay though which would probably be cheaper than buying a paper pattern!0 -
