Hi everyone - hoping one of you could help
Bought a Brother 2620 sewing machine from agros yesterday. It's supposed to be an easy machine to use but I have threaded it and sorted the bobbin but it doesn't seem to be feeding the fabric through I am having to pull it through so the stitches are changing length. Tried a trouble shooting guide and they suggested checking the feed dogs by putting a piece of paper through with no thread - I did that and it doesn't move- the needle goes up and down in the same place. Any ideas or do you think I have a dodgy machine? Thanks MelissaPlan to PAD Everyday 2024Credit Card - £3662.99 (int free to 11/11/25) -PAD TotalsJan 2024 -0 -

Simple idea first, have you lowered the presser foot?£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I have attempted to make the organiser. I have to say that I think the medium interfacing would have been better. The heavyweight seems far too stiff, and makes it difficult to pull the fabric through.
I love that bag hart!
I find that I can only get away with using heavyweight interfacing on fairly heavy cotton otherwise it is just too paperlike. I used heavyweight on the scrappy wallets and they worked fine but on the first needlebook I did the cotton was very thin and it just made a mess!
I made a turtle tonight but I don't like him, he will do for a big cat toy as she has taken a shine to himGetting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!

Hi Rikki
I have lowered the presser foot with the lever. There isnt any way of adjusting this though as in applying more or less pressure if thats what you mean? The material or paper is gripped?? Thanks for the suggestion any other thoughts??? Thanks melisssaPlan to PAD Everyday 2024Credit Card - £3662.99 (int free to 11/11/25) -PAD TotalsJan 2024 -0 -
Don't know much about machines but if the presser foot is down and the feed dogs are up I don't see how it could be anything else you could sort yourself so maybe take it to get looked at?Getting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!

finally finished the last of my Christmas presents (2010 that is lol)
I finished it in May but have only just got around to uploading the photos lol! I have also been very busy with work, two lots of chicken pox (the boys not me), and have had two lots of machine problems! The pattern in from The Linttot Jelly Roll Quilts book. I have made 2 others from this book - all are on my blog.0 -
Tamster the quilt is gorgeous. How clever that it fits inside the cushion. Is it all in one or is the cushion separate?
ChocolateIsLife I love how your clutch is reversible, great colours.
Hart your bag is lovely, such fresh colours.0 -

It's not anything to do with the tension is it? In that the tension is so tight that the fabric can't move through without being forced? Also the bobbin isn't jamming or getting caught up is it? If you move the needle up and down by hand does the fabric move through the machine then?
I'm not an expert on these things, when I got my sewing machine it was 2nd hand and it wouldn't do anything other than running stitch and we spent ages fiddling with the tension control and the buttons that changed the stitch type and stitch length until eventually it started doing everything else it was meant to do!0 -
Tamster, that's lovely
.
Thanks for the tips on the pinning of the fabric. I had something like that in mind I just wanted to be sure that I was going to do it right and not muck it up. Don't know if I'll get a chance to do it tomorrow as I think I'm in for a busy day but I will endeavour to get it started and hopefully finish on Monday. The first one is going to be the hardest to do. The second will be easier (fingers crossed!). I'm looking forward to having blinds up out there as there haven't been any for the 6 years we've been here!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
just to update sapphire eye
I've tried adjusting the tension and stitch width and tried to feed the material through manually with the wheel - without thread in - still not moving. I already fiddled with these when trying with thread at the beginning and followed the manuals suggestion of tension etc.. It did produce stitches but I had to pull the fabric. Shouldn't it still feed the material without any thread in at all? Can someone check on their machine. Its so frustating. Thanks MelissaPlan to PAD Everyday 2024Credit Card - £3662.99 (int free to 11/11/25) -PAD TotalsJan 2024 -0
