Decided my animal for the name plaques will be amonkey, here is my monkey mock-up! done very quickly and with the wrong coloured thread! This is the idea I'm going for, instead of 'Sew Happy' it will be the child's name and then the monkey will be sat on a swing. I'm quite happy with the look of the monkey just needs refining (alot lol!)
i think its a great idea and it looks fab, is the plaque wood or fabric?0 -
Depends on how much you want. Cheapest is from the US eg www.fabric.com but you have to order enough to make postage worthwhile, while not ordering so much to risk import duty and post office charges. I think the 'safe' limit is £18 GPB equivalent plus around £10 p &p
thanks i wanted uk really, i know the nice shop at cromford mill sells MM but havent got time to go at the moment so thought i would look and see whats available online0 -
thank you everyone for your replies about the zips ordered some online... made a four makeup bags in between my marathon stint at work this weekend and my 3 DD loved them and took them!! will try and post a pic of them tomorrow.

Hi everyone, here's what my noticeboard looks like finished.

I know it wont be to everyones liking but we thought it was a bit of fun. Not really sure if I should have posted it on her as there is minimal sewing on it. Used a staple gun to do majority of it but did hand sew part of it.
The kitchen is almost finished now so should be able to make a start on the bedroom this week so that I can get it turned into a sewing room, very excited at the thought but not looking forward to actually having to clear it out first.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Some lovely makes again people.
I love all the skulls fabric that's about at the moment, it's very fun but I wouldn't wear it because I think it would wear me (IYSWIM?). Hence loving the idea of using it for make-up bags or such like because you can get away with anything for your make-up bag can't you?
Irishgirl, you look like you're in a little world of your own there at your sewing machine. It's nice that your DD is snapping away at your work and your workstation and facebooking it, I'd see that as a lovely compliment.
I have a couple of links to possible layouts for my quilt. I need to know the exact layout before I cut sashing blocks as not all of the squares made it to the correct size. Unless I sew another strip to them so that I can make the sashing the right size?
I would like opinions if you wouldn't mind, I have to do a 2" square in between each sashing strip which will frame each block (IYSWIM?). There is not enough pink fabric to do it so if you see one in any of the squares which you think would look good, please shout out. I'm not keen on using the yellow, it may be too insipid I think. Anyway, here they are....
You may notice on this one that I have got the same yellow on top middle and bottom middle which is woopsie that I couldn't correct. It's meant to be the other yellow and dark star
