Hugs to everyone who need them!!

I'm annoyed as I'm planning on making a bag out of ties. Chose red as a base colour, so I've been looking for ties with any red in them. I've looked in all the charity shops in wetherby, Harrogate, Newcastle, St. Helens, Colton and two in Leeds. I'm refusing to pay more than £1.50 for each tie but I've exhausted all the charity shops and I only need 3 or 4 more. Grrrrrr....

The only difference will be they will be smaller, if they are of a symetrical shape. But if not, thats where the difficulty will come I am sure. Not that i have sewn a quilt in many many a year, and that was by hand! But as a pattern cutter, of quite a few years, thats where the problems are, if your not consistant in the seam allowances.
    Happy sewing all.
Just back from the doctors. After nearly an hour with the doctor.! Changing my medication back to what it was before, see If I am better for a bit. But not allowed to stay on such a high dose for long! Back to physio as well. !

They are 4" squares. So it should be ok.

I hope the change of meds and physio works for you Mooloo.

I bought the buttercup bag pattern today, gonna try it tomorrow. I made two dresses this morning and eldest DD wanted one of them which was white background with music notes which surprised me! she said its different and perfect for her night out to a night club on Saturday night lol!!

Miss Pixie is there no lines on the plate of your sewing machine beside the foot? if not, line them with either tape or fine permanent marker 1/4" 1/2" 5/8" 7/8" etc

If not, I will keep an eye out in the charity shops around here for you.
If I can get to Banbury thats even better, are there are quite a few there, and one that I find to be alot cheaper then the bigger named ones, who in my opinion are getting very greedy, especially in this economic climate!. But thats just me, as an ex shop manager I suppose. Especially when I know whats sent to the rag man!!

I joined a website about UK handmade last night. Randomly found it via all the blog recommendations. Not sure if it will be of benefit, or just make me feel a bit more inferior but we will see.:o

Yeah it does..this is going to make me sound really stupid but it didn't click until I read what you wrote...so they are 8ths then lol. I didn't really get what they were so I just ignored them especially as it seemed really huge for a seam...

I wish we had half decent charity shops round here I was inspired by all of your finds and went wandering on Tuesday found zilch and most the shops were half empty despite my grandma single handedly supplying them with books. She has given away over 6 bookcases worth and yet the house is still packed full of the damn things! There is no way she can complain at me for hoarding craft things. it must be genetic lol

I did find an oxfam bookshop which has a shelf for crafts so I will visit that more often now :)

Mooloo - hope you are feeling better soon, did they say what it is that is causing the trouble? I have had trouble with my left arm for years now, the elbow doesnt straighten at all and the shoulder is stiff and I cant turn my head side to side very far. I am on pain killers all the time to help relieve it but they have said its something I have to live with. The right shoulder is stiff too and the elbow does hurt now and then. I am really hoping it doesnt get any worse as I would be lost without my sewing.

Hart - how is your hand doing? You will have such a stash they way you are going. Will be lovely though to have so many nice fabrics to play about with when you are better.

Pixie - I can never find any good craft books in our charity shops although I am always looking. We have loads of them in our small High Street and another new one opening in a few weeks time. I usually go straight to the bit where they have curtains and bedding hanging up first to see if there are any bargains there, then check the books then do the rest of the shop.

Havent dont much sewing the last few days, have been uploading some bits to my new Folksy shop. I am still not that up on what I am doing and havent got the foggiest idea on how to promote it properly. Have put a link on my blog with some pics of some of the bits but cant figure out whether I can get a logo up showing the Folksy site for the link. I also set up a new face book account and managed to link the items from the shop to there but not sure of what to do next on that either lol.
