Oh poor hmo. Hope it mends quickly. I think you could all do with a bit of convalescence time as you're all injured soldiers who've been in the wars :(. My sympathies to you all.
In my (obviously expert ;)) opinion hmo, I would get some heavy weight iron on interfacing so that sharp bits don't poke through the thinner bits IYKWIM? Sertainly cheaper than making the bag and it getting killed very quickly.

Hope to make a start on DD's top or dress this evening. I want to sew so she's just going to have to bite the bullet and come to me to be mesured and stitched up.
Am very tired so am off to bed now. At least I managed to get a bit of decluttering housework and decorating prep done after work this morning. Phew :)

Please may I join the Crocks Club? Husband will be away next week, so I planned a blitzing tidy (mainly to find the things I have bought - and very successfully hidden - for my daughter's twins 2nd birthday) and then lots of sewing, fuelled by nothing more complicated than sandwiches and chocolate.

But my polymyalgia/steroids combination has decided to duff me up again, so I'm hoping to find the French Tennis Open somewhere on TV, and just cut out at least one new Vogue pattern.

All Vogue patterns are back to $4.99 on vogue.com for a few days - seems to happen really regularly.

How is all the walking wounded today? I do sympathise with all of you, the frustration of wanting to sew etc because 4 years ago I was out of action for over a year after falling out of the roof space!! I landed full force on my side, pictures came off the wall on my way down and glass from the photo frames ended up embedded in my arm! I injured my shoulder, arm, elbow etc... torn ligaments, tendons, broken bones and stitches etc ..it was a painful process to recovery, physio etc...

One thing that really helped me was taking up salsa dancing lessons, it really did speed up my recovery process, the physio noticed it too as the restrictions to my arm movement improved dramatically each week I went to see her! A lady at salsa told me she was riddled with arthritis in her hips and after a year of salsa her steroids was reduced and feels back to normal again and explained that salsa dancing moves and exercise joints we never exercise.. wrists, shoulders, hips, ankles etc.

Yeah it does..this is going to make me sound really stupid but it didn't click until I read what you wrote...so they are 8ths then lol. I didn't really get what they were so I just ignored them especially as it seemed really huge for a seam...

You are not alone, I was exactly the same when i got my sewing machine many years ago!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Gosh irishgirl that sounds horrific! I'll stop moaning at once. Except (!) to say that one of the expletive deleted things about expletive deleted polymyalgia is that the expletive deleted muscles have to rest. So no salsa for me yet.

Hello, me again, novice questions coming up. I want to make this tissue holder that someone linked to recently http://www.skiptomylou.org/2008/09/02/3383/ it looks like thick material - can anyone tell me what this type of material is called? Also any suggestions of where I might get some will save me time searching ;)

It just looks like a thick cotton to me or maybe canvas? I have made them with 100% cotton and thin polycottons and they all turned out fine because it is doubled up with the inner and outer fabric. I think it is the sort of thing you could probably use anything on well maybe not something stretchy that probably wouldn't work as well.

That probably made no sense! Someone who knows what they are talking about will be along soon to help I am sure :)

It looks to me as if pretty well any cotton or poly/cotton would work, cos the tissues inside will stop the holder flopping about. I think MissPixie is right about a non-stretch fabric.
