Welcome heather! :) You are very lucky to have little girls to sew for it is all boys in my family and there is hardly anything for boys in comparison to the beautiful stuff for girls.

Thank you for all your lovely comments :)

Once I have washed my fabric I am planning on making a gathered (slightly a-line) skirt for myself I can't find any patterns I like so I might have to use bits from lots of different ones and then wing it! Very nervous about my first attempt at making clothes.

What a lovely quilt Miss Pixie, well done :T ...I still haven't finished my first quilted pot-holder....been so busy with lots of things lately .

I am in the process of temporarily converting DS1's bedroom into a crafting room while he is still at Uni (I have until the beginning of July :D). I have collected all the various bits I have acquired over the past few weeks and seem to have quite a bit of material now :rotfl:.

Can you seasoned bag and purse-makers tell me if you wash your materials before sewing? I think some of my material is dry-clean only, so no washing there. Also, what do you use to line the bags that can be used as soap or make-up bags? I don't have any oil-cloth atm, as that could be make a good lining I think.

Right off to finish sorting out my shed that we have been clearing out this morning.

    Happy sewing everyone!

Hi Keiss :D I don't usually wash my fabric before making bags but I do iron it :) a lot of the time I use duvet covers or sheets.
I have this waterproof fabric I line my make-up bags with http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RETRO-BIRDS-Wipe-Clean-Waterproof-PVC-Textile-Fabric-FQ-/350446416606?pt=UK_Crafts_Fabric_Textiles_SM&hash=item51983bf2de

It is very easy to sew with (I don't have a special teflon foot for my machine)

This seller has loads of designs :D

I have used shower curtains too and no probs :)
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

ive driven through matlock but never been for a walk round maybe i should go when its nice.

its been sunny here again but very very windy the last few days so weve not really venytured out much.
