Well done your dress is lovely! :) You are braver than me.

I finished the top of my quit today :D I am going to try and finish it this weekend because I don't know how much longer the baby will be holding on! Once i have sewn on the wadding and back and turned out does anyone have any suggestions about how to topstitch? I know a lot of people do crosses in the squares but I am worried about doing that because I am not so good at sewing straight lines and the crosses would probably be very wonky!

With the quilt I'm doing I used a vanishing pen to mark the straight lines with a ruler and did running stitch over the top. (I do a block at a time as the lines disappear) Does take a long time to do tho, but it's quite theraputic. It's too big to get under the sewing machine.

hmo That little dress is the bees knees. You'll be kitting out the whole family next :T

Thank you both, maybe I am being really dim but when I read about tying I just didn't get it at all I read it like 4 times and other articles and it just isn't clicking lol.

My quilt is very small so would fit in my machine :) I really need to get a vanishing marker at some point! Do you think masking tape would work the same? I would test it on a scrap first obviously but it might be enough to help me machine sew in straight lines.

Do I have to use bias? I don't have any apart from white which might not look nice and don't have enough fabric to make some :( I thought once I had turned out I could top stich round the edge but I am not sure now if that will be okay with the squares.

wore my rock dress last night for a dear friend 50th which was rock themed, and loved the compliments I got it about my dress as it went round the party very quickly that I had made it, sadly I cant wear it again as I am too old to wear a skulls and crossbones dress and my DS says Mum!! you are going thru a midlife crisis if you think that dress is lovely cos it is not and it is going to give me nightmares thinking about skulls! oh its true that the youth is wasted on the young!!!
