Haha! I came on here to say that I've just ordered some shirring elastic from ebay and we're all talking about it! What is it eh? The sun comes out and we all want to make pretty little dresses and tops for our little girls :D. Shame you can't really put boys in shirring isn't it ;)?
I think I will make DD a dress first, then a top. But she may have enough dresses so I'll have to check her wardrobe first and perhaps it will be a top first. Oooooooh I'm so excited :D

I have finally finished the Turkey Saddles (little coats to protect thier backs in when they are mating!).
    Pictures on my homepage.
I have a very basic homepage, I would love to know how you do your HMO, and a few others with such wonderful sites. I struggle to do mine!
I dont seem to be able to do what I want with mine at all.

well i ordered the pattern for my dd dress yesterday afternoon and it arrived this morning.

so we have been off out to buy the fabric she saw yesterday in Macc.

ive cut the bits of the pattern i need (only 4 pieces), from the rest of the pattern, ive ironed it as suggested by someone and i have it lay out on my table with greasproof paper ontop of it so that i can trace a copy with all the markings.

i am going to try and trace it all and cut it out today/tonight

hey ladies, sorry to jump in but can any one recommend any sites (or indeed any where to buy patterns from) to make sleeveless sun dresses for my DD (who is nearly 3). Each year I spend a small fortune on them (even on ebay they're not cheap as chips when you factor in postage) so pretty sure we (me and my mum) could do it cheaper.

    TIA :D

Mooloo, you can fiddle about with the layout if you go into settings then choose design and the advanced options. In there you can change your layout to have 3 columns instead of 2 etc and pick different backgrounds etc. If you need help with doing a blog header go into The Littlest Crafters blog. She did mine for me and has posted a tutorial on how to do it using picnik. Her blog link is on my blog if you cant find her on google. :)

p.s Im another one that bought shirring elastic (although I bought it last year and Im too scared to use it too as it says you have to keep it taught whilst winding it round your bobbin and Im worried I do it wrong or break my beloved machine. :(

ok first problem ladies with placing pattern onto fabric.
my fabric is 60 wide and the lady told me to buy 1 yd

now not being a dress maker my first instinct was to fold the fabric in half right sides together down its length?

so i have a long narrow strip

but on the sheet that came with the fabric it looks like they lay out the fabric with the yard accross and the 60 down and then fold inwards from the top and bottom to take the front and back which have to be cut on a fold, so theres a section in the middle thats single fabric but the top and bottom are double, does that make sense?

is that how i do it
