well ive just ordered my first dress pattern off the net for my dd weve seen some fabric today but couldnt buy it until we chose the pattern.
any tips please only done home decor so far.
it says age 7-14 she is 8 nearly 9 does that mean i have to chop the pattern down before i put it on my fabric?
ive ordered this
it could all go horribly wrong:)0 -
HMO, there will be various lines on the pattern that show what size to make it to. You can cut the pattern paper if you want to but you can also just fold it along the lines so that you can re-use it if you need a bigger size in future. Also make sure you line up your arrows parallel with your selvedges or it wont hang right.0

or trace the size that you want on dressmaking tracing paper or I used the stuff that you use for baking as that was all that I had in the house lol!0 -

I made a pair of those! And I have a couple more waiting on elastic. And I finished off a dress and a skirt. Then made a cute top.
HMO, are you sure you can't use shirring elastic on your machine? What kind do you have? I do feel sorry for you missing out on shirring
Also http://www.dana-made-it.com/2008/07/warhol-dress-pattern.html is easy peasy and no shirring because even I got fed up shirring.0 -
