I'm obviously having a stupid day, but those lines seem to be the opposite way from the way I stitch
:rotfl:the 1/4 inch is the side of the foot not the marks (the little bit that sticks out each side of the needle spacehope that is a little clearer for you and don't worry I have many days were nothing seems clear and then when someone points things out you go Doh :rotfl:
I always watch the side of the foot rather than the needle when sewing and I mostly keep an even line then (I did say mostly:rotfl:)Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

Anyway-yesterday I took LO shopping and his white sleepsuit came home black from lying in the trolley seat...so Id like to make one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cosy-Shopper-Trolley-Baby-Seat-Cover-Blanket-Camouflage-/190418557618?pt=UK_Baby_CarSeats_EH&hash=item2c55d49ab2
Ive googled and I can find patterns for the seat for bigger kids-but none for these.Has anyone else done one of these?
Im not sure if this is a help but this is all I could find http://www.sewessential.co.uk/category.asp?CategoryID=1623&NumPerPage=5&page=1

Just quickly popping in to say I sewed up my first square last night. It is way short of the 12.5" it should be so my seams are too large obviously. Can anyone offer any quick tips for ensuring a 1/4" seam when the machine doesn't have a marking on it? I feel I may have to go the route of taping it up to stop myself going over.
I have to do lots of house work today and photobucket's down so it will probably be this evening before I am able to get back on here to catch up. Until then, enjoy
have you checked your manual, does your machine have a 1/4inch setting or can you move the needle position.
on my brother i have two 1/4inc setting one for left and one for right.
and i can also move my needle position too. it may be worth you checking in case you have this too0 -

Oh thanks, I see now, durrrrI always watch the side rather than the needle as well. My machine has various lines under the needle, so I just try to keep the edge on one of those. Not very successfully yet, but it's getting there

i'm wanting to make a nice patchwork quilt to use as a playmat for my baby.
Has anyone seen any nice material , ideal precut in 4 inch squares which is suitable. i keep looking but i just can't see anything which is baby enough. i'd like more pastal shades rather than bold and bright.0 -

I move my needle to the right then follow the edge of my standard foot. Otherwise you could put masking tape on your machine. I cant as it would cover my feed dogs!0 -

In the fabricland stores, they have had pastel baby fabrics precut into squares or jelly rolls, in pink, blue or mint. They are wrapped but look as though they might be flannel so would be lovely & cozy. They were around £3.50. I then saw the exact same items in JL at the other end of the high street (who are never knowingly undersold) for £8.50
I havent been in there for a while, but you could phone them to see if they still stock them.
Otherwise I have bought from here before. The packs are in imperial measures though, not metric. It is worth keep looking on there as the stock changes very frequently. There is a girl bundle in the heavenly halves and a cute dinosaur boy bundle in the fat quarters.0 -
thankyou for that. we don't have a Fabric land on the isle of wight, but i will look at the site you have posted.
i think my biggest prob is in my mind i can see what i want but i can't find it,lol.0 -
Kaz, I just use my normal foot but you have to make sure that your needle is in the middle rather than at the left (does that make sense??). When I turn my machine on it automatically goes onto stitch No. 1. I have to change it to No. 2 or the side of my foot(which I use as a marker) isnt a 1/4" measurement (Ive got an electronic machine so not sure if that makes a difference or not).0
