Im the same pennib, not a master of any craft but I just love all of them, Im a kid in a sweet shop when it comes to anything crafty (not much good at knitting though, only squares :o) I walk around thinking can I make that or a colour/shape will inspire me to make something with what Ive collected.
My OH has got fed up with my bits of junk as he calls it as well as taking over the dining room area with fabric :rotfl:
Im in the process of pulling a bag apart so i can see how it was made :rotfl:
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

avstar - when I was younger the word 'sewer' was accepted, but I guess 'sewist' (which I can't get on with either) was invented because of the other meaning of sewer.

I call myself a dressmaker cos that's still the bulk of what I do. But I now think it sounds as if I'm a professional.

Thats beautiful pennib, I love the colours, absolutely lovely xx

I am the same, love all kinds of crafts but I think sewing is my favourite. I went a few years without doing hardly any as I didnt have a machine that worked but since I have had one I have not stopped.

Avstar - the lady with the baby brings a tear to my eye too, she is supposed to be my Mum who is no longer with us in person but I always think of her when I am sewing as she was always at her sewing machine when we were growing up and I was always there waiting for the scraps of fabric she didnt want so I could make dollys clothes out of them xx

I am just a "crafter" - jack of all trades, master of none lol!

I have so much papercrafting stuff and now fabric stuff, I really need some extra hours in my day to use it all up (and not buying anymore would also help lol).

When you guys did your swop back in the Summer, I didnt have anything sewing-wise to swop, now my boiler cupboard is full & it all falls out everytime I dare to open the door.

Hart, wow, you have been busy! They are lovely. I think you are beating me with your 15 minutes. They take me a little bit longer (Im totally cool with putting in zips but I dont think my technique is perfect yet so Im always trying different methods!) x

Cheeswright, your cushions are beautiful. Especially like the blue, green and purple ones.

Avstar, one of my friends calls me a streamstress (although they are normally taking the p*ss when they do)

Pennib, thats lovely. What a talent you have.

I was at the Creative Stitches and Hobbycraft show in Glasgow at the weekend and went to a talk about different sewing techniques using paint and layering with different fabrics. Some of the stuff was incredible. Very interesting indeed (although probably too complicated for me at the moment given that I cant even figure out how to put a quilt together!) :rotfl:
