    Welcome to the thread Nimbo!

Does anyone think we should start a new Sewing Room Part 2 as this one is getting quite big now!!

I agree Pootle :D this thread is so long the lovely new people are having to spend too long reading instead of sewing :o
So many useful tutorials are now hard to find so it would be nice if we could add all the fav's (ie DIY bag lover) on the front page :o

hmo I love your little bowls :T
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

Maybe we could have a thread with just tutorials and links to patterns on it, no chat? Obviously, the chat would be on this thread!

(I almost posted this after the 'no chat' bit!)

Thats a good idea as there are so many great ideas on here but you easily lose them as the pages increase. It could be divided into areas, clothing, bags, quilts, techniques, suppliers etc.

Ooh Bexterwhoo your little girl is gorgeous, reminds me of my DD pulling wierd faces for the camera....she's 20 now and will only have her pic taken in full make-up and hair extentions LOL! :rotfl:

Everyone all your makes are lovely, and welcome to InSearchOfMe.

I'm v excited cos T'other half repaired a friends PC the other night and when the friend asked how much he wanted for doing it, t'other half said "just let avstar have some of your fabric." T'other half's friend buys and sells all sorts of stuff from auctions/closing down sales/ebay job lots etc. Apprently he' got loads of fabric from a store closedown, ....I'm so excited at the thought of entering an Aladdins Cave of material :D
And will he think I'm a cheeky so&so when I get completely carried away, how much should I take????

I'm finally sorting out my lifetime's collection of fabrics and shouldn't admit to being jealous of such an exciting prospect. Perhaps you could take a small amount without paying, and ask how much he would charge you for more?

Ooooh yep and then hopefully he will say"no its fine" & press armfuls of lovely fabric into my open arms..... (wake up avstar!)

I get all flustered & embarrased when people offer freebies so I'll prob just take half a yard of scrap remnant and scuttle off out the door :o

Welcome to the thread In Search of Me.

start with 2 squares of fabric 12x12
(mine was only a test so mine was 10.5x10.5)

1 piece of bondaweb or similar 12x12

make a sandwich fabric 1 right side down, bondaweb, fabric 2 right side up (all ironed and stuck together)

mark the top centre of all 4 sides (so a mark at 6inch)

from these marks draw a vertical guide line about 3inc long (doesnt have to be exact but all 4 have to be the same)

now at the top on either side of the 6inch mark, make another mark about 3/4inch either side. you are making a cutting triangle

    do that on all 4

now mark your triangle by taking a line from the bottom of the 3 inch vertical line up to either side to the 3/4 mark.

you should have a triangle shape on all 4 side

cut these out ( you use the bondaweb to give it more substance)

all you have to do now is butt the gaps up (dont overlap) and sew with a wide but tight together zig zag to join up

as you do all 4 sides it creates it shape.

zig zag the outside edge or add bias binding

there are tuts on google for these fabric bowls but most use a square in the middle sewn like a diamond to use as a cutting line but i dont think its needed, it only takes seconds to draw the cutting lines in
