Thanks HMO Ive already stitched the bottom of the lining:(
But that really does make sense so I might consider unpicking;)
If I decide I cant be asked-I'll be sure to do it that way next time. I did this one with interfacing-but I'd like to do some more without for shopping totes. The funny thing is I wanted to finish this because I want to learn how to knit.So I made myself a deal (on Friday) that if I finished this bag I would let myself buy some knitting bits-because Id have something pretty to keep them in...but now Im hooked on my sewing machine again:D

Hi Danemi, thank you. Its Michael Miller Flower Shower. I made this bag out of it last year for my sisters birthday so thought Id use up the rest of it.

Pootleflump, that bag's lovely! Where did you get the pattern from, as I'd like to try one - I've looked at quite a few sites but I've not found one that looks as good as that.

    Hi everyone :D
just popped in to show you all that at long last Im back sewing lol.th_heartframepurse.jpg?t=1296414724th_buttercupbaggreen1.jpg?t=1296414724th_buttercupbaggreen2.jpg?t=1296414724th_1hrbags1.jpg?t=1296414724
I love making the frame purses and the buttercup bags are so easy to do. I made 3 1hour bags (but the blue one I started 3 days ago :o) I have updated my home page for clearer pic's :D

Little_miss, dont give up, I only started sewing last year (feb) and I just followed lots of easy tutorials and came on here for inspiration and sometimes a kick up the behind lol when I felt like giving up. We just love everything anyone has made as it means it has come from the heart :D.
Well off to finish glueing the other side of another frame purse (the messy part lol).

    great makes they are lovely

What's the easiest way to turn the handles the right way round?

why don't you just buy fabric by the cm? Most shops will sell it in either minimums of 10cm or 20cm. So then you can get the full width of the fabric.?
I think that since the "invention" of selling fabric in fatquarters and in jelly rolls, they have done the sale of fabrics an injustice as they have put the price up considerably, and the end of rolls bargains have diminished! An old fashioned shop may still be able to get you the bright and bold fabrics you want. Ask them whats new etc.

They only sell by the meter, I asked them last time I was in. They do have a remenints bin. She will have a look for brighter fabrics but tbh, the shop is so out of the way and our local town is dying so I don't blame them for only stocking the basics.

FQ were only because they are the exact size of the front (or back) of the summer dresses I've been making up.

Today however, I discovered funky pillow cases :D So tonight after my homework (I'm a student as well as a mum) I made a good start on a shirred pillowcase dress for DD. 4 for £4 from asda, some left over patterend fabric and I have a minimum of 4 dresses plus extra fabric for sun hats (from a pattern) and hair bands.

Hi nykied :D a few of us here have made this bag (I think it's the one Pootle used) http://vintagericrac.blogspot.com/2008/01/1-hour-bag-tutorial.html

It is a nice size bag and very easy to make :D The blue bag I made at the weekend was made using some heavy weight fabric and I used an old wool blanket I found in a charity shop for the padding.

Polkadot, love your bag :T and I love the fabric you have used :D
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

That bag's lovely too, i've saved it as a favourite, but I thought Pootleflump's bag has pleats in?

Your bag looks easy (ish) to make, with nice clear instructions, so I'll be on the lookout for some fabric. Thanks :)

Ive only been away since yesterday lunchtime and we are already 3 pages on! Thanks Sethsgran. Might have to look into the cricut in more detail now. Well done Polkadot - your bag is really good!! Sarah and Danemi your little dolls are so cute and Sue, how busy have you been!

Polkadot, when you ask about handles being turned right way round do you mean when you have sewed them right side together then having to turn them? Easiest way is with a loop turner. If you are using the same fabric for both sides of handle though then the easiest way (I almost always use this way now rather than the right sides together way) is to

. cut one piece of fabric instead of 2, fold in half and press (wrong sides together)
. open out again and fold each side of your fabric to the line you have just pressed and press again (so it will kind of look like bias
    binding
. fold in half again then topstitch down each side

Its much easier than turning out and looks just as good.

Nykied, the bag I made is this one. Ive made a couple of these in different fabrics. Its fairly easy once you get the hang of getting the pleats in the right place and is a brilliant size. You can change around the inside pockets to what you prefer rather than having to stick to the tutorial. Photos on my homepage if you wanna peek.
